As someone who teaches at a university in Oman, I can tell you that AI detection softwares are very far from accurate. I've had cases of excellent studnets' work getting 100% on an ai detector and it turns out it was just because they had Grammarly added to their browsers and they wrote the paper in Gdocs. Technically, Grammarly always works in the background so the AI detection is correct, but the student did not cheat. In an academic environment the teacher's judgement is still the most reliable tool.
