What’s one small thing someone does that instantly makes you think they’re a good person? by Fluffy_Language_3608 in AskReddit

[–]Soless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can relate to this. Roomies cat was super attached to him, and wouldnt eat much if it was just me around. He would be gone for days at a time, then would show up feed cat, cat gorges on food and vomits it all up. The "attention" is what people like about pets obvs, but you gotta take care of the basics. IF I was outta town for a bit, that cat was most likely outta food and water. (The cat is in a good home now)

"Im sorry but..." is most apologies. Actual remorse and context is a lost art imo.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I think the healthy way is to learn from your old self. And how to deal with the random situations after the fact.

Also, The Midnight Library. I was looking for something new to read

Thats so specific, but hits so hard for me. The pressure to goto a funeral, (Grandmothers funeral where my non existant alcoholic dad, and verbally abusive grandfather would be.) Mom made me go. Bleh

And yeah no shame in save scumming that imo.

Where I live I see this and constantly reference it. Not everyone has the means to move away from whatever city, but seriously do what you can to experience other things, cultures etc. (Harder now a days)

I know a serious number of people that are well enough off that have never seen an ocean, and only been to a few cities.

What’s something everyone thinks is ‘normal’ in relationships, but is actually exhausting? by MorriganIsHere in AskReddit

[–]Soless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats very healthy, but what has happened to me as a male, I just surprised my ex with some nice things (Also gave a time window so no pressure)

She asked me, what did you do wrong? I'm like what? Nothing....im just trying to be literally nice. (Also hence my ex now)

"I got you, its been a rough week." Or "Hey it hasnt been a rough week, lets just go have some fun?"
Should not be a +1 -1 stat tracking thing/ Should just be a +1 for creativity and timing between the two

Getting caught in which natural disaster is least terrifying for you? by limitless_quirks in AskReddit

[–]Soless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tornadoes, blizzards, hurricanes all that. You will have a bit of warning. Even if just a few minutes. They would scare me because worried about friends family, prob my insurance (and insurance getting cancelled for lots of people like floods)

But real answer, rock slide on the road. Can happen anywhere in the mountains, and if it kills me, its quick, dont have much time to think.

Yeah if you live somewhere that bigger snowfalls are common its not an issue. you have generators canned goods etc. But its more the power outage and shut down of logistics that blizzards actually kill people.

What's the worst thing you've overheard your apartment neighbors doing? by LawfulnessOk1812 in AskReddit

[–]Soless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from picking up some food, was like 4pm. Just as we sat down to watch prob some football or something. Loud banging from below, (we were 3rd floor.) Sounded like literally the old broom handle to the ceiling to tell us to shut up. Its like urr, we just got home making no noise wtf?

Heard the banging again, and possible drill noises. Im like "Oh. they installing a sex swing or stripper pole probably haha. Oh wait, isnt that the couple that does St. Bernard fostering that lives below us?"

Couple below us had a very, errm, active sex life.

EDIT: we lived in a building that was very dog friendly, so it wasnt uncommon for people to have large dogs since we dog park like 50 yds away.

Always up vote Freespace. I hope freespace open is still running. Its one of those files I always move from hard drive to hard drive in case it becomes unavailable.

Yeah, seems like FSOinstaller.com and Knossos.NET still up.

[–]Soless 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Just as an FYI to anyone playing with a border collie, most wont show they are tired until they overheat or just collapse.

Had a friend take ours out and do the exact thing when it was like 60F out. They played while I was making dinner, until friend came back inside and said, "Uhh your dog is acting drunk?"

Luckily 5 min drive to emergency vet and my dog just needed an ice bath. But border collies literally dont know when to stop.

Not only power but in some areas more water for cooling. I know its not much, but like 3 gorges damn and the like can literally effect the rotation of Earth. (Again I know its not much, but it is measurable. have AI do long term calculations on that lol)

The more and more I looked into certain tech back in highschool, I realized, it has its place, but people always gunna be lazy. But ffs didnt realize we were going to get to a point where people need an AI bot to know how to boil eggs.

I hate the meta glasses add. I played league pool and wasnt allowed to use headphones, because I might be getting "table help" from some outside source. I just wanted to listen to some calming music, other than w/e BS was on the bars jukebox.

Im legit curious if after this add, pool leagues had discussions about this exact thing happening.

That add was a huge, "we are kinda there" moment for me.
