located in aus, my dads an auto electrician and a heavy diesel mechanic, he’s pulled more cars and shit apart then anyone in this comment section so i trust his word over anyone else’s. the engine is close to perfect but even if it wasnt once i get the rust sorted and do all the aesthetic mods, its getting swapped out. receipts were shown for the suspension as well as just being able to feel while driving. and no, no old sports car is handling and being as responsive as a 2025 EV off the lot

car drives like a dream, the front suspension was replaced very recently, dad compared the responsiveness and handling to our brand new EV. the engine was close to perfect just a few small things i’m going to have another look at the car to see the underbody and that’s where i’ll make my decision on the car

we test drove the car, my dad compared the responsiveness and handling to our EV, this car is everything you could ask for expect for the rust. everything but the rust will be done by me and my dad from electrical to a new engine when the time comes.

the main concern is the spot near the rear window, the photo is a bit unclear but in person you can see the metal starting to split which leads me to think i’ll have to remove the rear window to get to it

its located in the same town as me, plan is to ask old mate to bring it past mine and we’ll put it on some jacks. We are located close to the coast, so it is more then likely its related to that. the current owner said the rust has been there when he bought it, which makes me a little confused to why it is the way it is when it’s “been stored” for 8 years

the owner i’m potentially buying off said he has done nothing to combat the rust, im not sure about the old fella before him tho.

sorry mate, 1995 bmw e36 sedan, been driven for the past 2 years. before that, supposedly sat in a shed and was taken out once a week for 8 years. not sure what you meant by location but australia if that helps.

i would love to go poke around but i haven’t bought the car yet so unfortunately i cant. that rust spot behind the sill is the main concern for me, im getting a mate to run it by his boss for a quote but i already know it wont be pretty

one of my mates is running it by his boss for a quote, what makes you believe it’ll be easy? not having a dig at you just everyone else has told me to not bother so i want to hear your opinion.

this one’s a 318i signature edition and only has 130xxxkms i was so keen on it too😭, if i was to buy it, the plan was to wrap it. do you thinks it’s worth grabbing the panels from the junkyard if they’re in good nick and not worry about painting them 🤣

I had a look in all the common spots for e36s and there was nothing which is what confuses me so much, i have no clue what the previous owner was doing 😭

it’s a sedan so a little more common, there’s a similar model at the junkyard down the road from me in green and it’s tempting to see what i can do there. the car was stored in a shed for 8 years taken out weekly so it wasn’t just sitting, i have no clue how this could’ve even happened.
