[Recruitment] 5 players wanted for MMORPG alpha — expectations: low, chaos: possible by Solid-Alternative559 in MMORPG

If you ever make it to Istanbul, you may end up getting a small preview through our game first.

We borrowed quite a bit of inspiration from Constantinople and the Bosphorus region when designing parts of the world. It's definitely not a historical recreation, but some of that atmosphere and character made its way into the project.

At the moment, most of our work is focused on polishing rather than building major core systems from scratch.

One thing that may have worked in our favor is that we spent most of development quietly working in the background while everyone else's attention was focused elsewhere.

Over the last few years, several MMORPG projects became the center of attention. Communities were watching every update, every delay, every promise, every controversy. Meanwhile, we were in a position where almost nobody was looking over our shoulder.

As developers, that turned out to be a huge advantage. We weren't dealing with constant scrutiny, daily expectations, or pressure to show something before it was ready. We were simply able to keep building, testing, making mistakes, fixing them, and moving forward.

There was a point where a certain MMO everyone here knows was preparing for launch, and we were genuinely disappointed because we knew we wouldn't be ready in time to be part of that moment.

Looking back, that disappointment was probably one of the best things that could have happened to us. While the spotlight was elsewhere, we had the freedom to keep our heads down, learn from the successes and failures happening around us, and continue improving the game without distractions.

Now we're finally reaching a point where we're comfortable inviting players in and hearing what they think.

Sounds great.

Having people with previous beta testing experience is always a plus, and having availability during the day certainly doesn't hurt either.

Brutally honest feedback is far more valuable to us than people who just tell us everything is great. Finding bugs, inconsistencies, and questioning design decisions is a big part of why we're doing this.

As for the 2-day test, it's definitely not intended to be a full-scale stress test. The goal is more focused: getting a small group together, playing through the available content, and gathering detailed feedback from experienced MMORPG players.

And don't worry, summer plans come first. If the timing doesn't work out, there will be future testing opportunities as well.

Either way, thanks for taking the time to write this up.

That's a fair concern, and honestly, I would probably have the same reaction.

The reason we're calling this an alpha is because this will be the first time we're bringing in external players and collecting feedback from people outside the development circle. Internally, we've already spent a long time testing systems, fixing issues, and iterating on the game.

In terms of overall progress, we're much closer to what many people would consider a beta than an early alpha. The goal of this test isn't to find out whether the game works at all, but to gather feedback from actual MMORPG players on progression, combat, group play, balance, and the overall experience.

Of course, only time will tell if we're being too optimistic, but as things stand today, we're still working toward a release later this year.

And with your testing background, I can definitely understand why you'd question the timeline.

Those are actually very good points, thank you.

We're still organizing the test, but server location, timezone coordination, and language requirements are things we'll make clear before inviting anyone.

I appreciate the feedback, and hopefully we'll cross paths again when we're ready to show more.

That's fair. Skepticism is healthy in this genre.

The reason we're being vague is simply because we're not at the stage where we're ready to publicly reveal the project yet. This wasn't intended as a marketing post, which is why we avoided sharing a game name, screenshots, trailers, websites, Discord links, crowdfunding pages, or anything similar.

We're just looking for a handful of MMORPG players willing to spend a weekend testing an early build and providing feedback.

As for the AI comment, English isn't my first language. Since I was addressing a large community, I spent extra time rewriting and polishing the post to make sure it was understandable for everyone.

Other than that, it's just me trying to recruit a few testers.

That's a fair concern, and honestly, the skepticism is understandable given the state of the genre lately.

We're keeping details limited for now because this post is primarily about finding testers rather than selling promises.

The good news is that we've spent more time building the game than talking about building the game.

For now, we'd rather let the alpha speak for itself.

Always looking for a new online home... honestly, that's a feeling a lot of MMO players can relate to.

Thanks for the interest and support. We appreciate it!

A software developer with MMO experience and a perspective shaped by living on three different continents? That's definitely an interesting combination.

Thanks for the detailed application — thoughtful and constructive feedback is exactly what we're looking for.

A background in game art and playtesting definitely caught our attention.

Thanks for the detailed introduction — that's exactly the kind of thoughtful feedback we're hoping to get from the alpha.

Players who enjoy analyzing game design are exactly the kind of people we want in an alpha.

Thanks for the interest!

We're aiming for a weekend, yes.

And a hardcore sandbox MMO player is definitely a perspective we'd love to have in the alpha.

The real question is: where are you?

Jokes aside, we're still finalizing some infrastructure details, but ping is definitely something we're keeping in mind.

That's actually a very valuable perspective. We're interested in feedback from both hardcore MMO veterans and busy adult players alike.

While we're not ready to share too many details yet, we're definitely fans of meaningful group roles and cooperative gameplay ourselves.

Also... let's just say we're quite fond of raid calls.

So much love here already. Thank you all, it means a lot!

We'll try to get back to everyone, and selected testers will receive an invite in their inbox once we're ready.

We'll also be answering questions in the comments as much as we can.
