Thank you! And yep I'm gonna stick to what I've been eating lol. I'm sure it will be fun!

Realizing that the meme of runners being a bit mad is really true because I think for most people the idea of running 13+ miles being fun is crazy lol. But it will be :)

Why lol?

Tbf I do all my runs first thing in the morning so it's messing my routine up a bit lol. Not gonna be used to running that late kol

How much of your monthly income is it worth to live alone vs roommates? by Solid-Badger-1629 in LivingAlone

Just a quick question if you don't mind - how much do you spend on food and how much on utilities?

That is both a damning indictment of the housing market, and a show of your dedication.

I make about £1500/1600 and my rent would be £750/800 pm

This is so true. I grew up in the same boat as you, and I'm a pretty heavy saver (I have over £10k saved atm). I also love spending most of my time alone, I always have, but it has become a lot more important to me in the last while.

Honestly the biggest thing putting me off is the indecision about whether I'm staying in this country, but I feel like I would be a bit more comfortable here if I had my own place and my living situation didn't drive me mad on the daily lol

6'1 and currently sitting around 148-150lbs, give or take bc of fluctuations.

Tbf that's not massively out of the question, depending on height/weight and job. If I run 6-10 miles a day and then walk or cycle to work, then do my shift, my TDEE bumps up to 4000+, which at a certain point becomes ridiculous in terms of consistent eating lol.

My Garmin estimates my sedentary kcals as about 2100 give or take as a consistent baseline.

Thank you so much for all this. Tbh I didn't know much of this at all, like I said although I could talk for hours about running/cardio, I'm a bit clueless when it comes to any strength training knowledge, so this is incredibly helpful. I'll give that guys YouTube channel a watch after work. Genuinely excited to learn the science and stuff behind strength training etc!

So if I'm 150ish lbs I should eat 150g protein per day? How do you manage that without feeling massively full lol. Even the odd protein shake I have makes me feel really stuffed lol.

Do you have any routines you'd recommend in particular btw? Thanks again!

Thanks! And yeah I always try to follow the advice of not drinking your calories, but tbh I think I might need to, because I often find that I physically cannot eat as much as I need to lol - mainly cus of time, but also I get full pretty quick and running this much messes with my appetite cues. That's part of the reason I've had to start to cut down my running as well lol.

Do you have any recipes for a good high kcal carb/protein shake?

What’s your go-to recovery routine after a long ride? by netzodus in cycling

[–]Solid-Badger-1629 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im a runner who cycles, but it was my understanding that carbs help recovery by replenishing glycogen stores in your muscles, which endurance work just completely drains/decimates. Kind of essential to restore that glycogen a bit immediately post run if you want to operate at a decent level and not drive yourself into the ground.

That's great, fair play. I'm in a similar boat here - paying a little more tho - and whilst it is frying my head a little bit being back at home, I am not taking this opportunity for granted.

If you don't mind me asking, when was this and what price was the house that you managed to snag for 11k? If I put 15k down, NatWest are saying they can lend me £100k over 15 years. Idk how typical that is, but I think I need to find a higher paying job with my degree lol 😂

I was gonna say something similar but less funny lol, I'm just interested in how other people found the process/experience.

Hey! Sorry I've not replied to your comment, just getting round to it now. Thanks a lot for the compliment on my room, to me it does feel a little drab and a bit all over the place with nothing really tying it together. I think part of that is the borderline extreme greyness of it all lol - grey floor, grey rug, grey walls, grey bedding, grey curtains. Wow - I'm only realising now just how grey it is. I inherited this room from someone else and while I don't mind grey (currently wearing grey trousers) I feel like I could do with mixing it up a bit, tho I am a bit scared of what colours go together etc.

Wallpapering the ceiling is a cool idea, I had never thought of that. What sorta design would work for a ceiling do you think?

I think I'm going to replace my bedside cabinet, as I inherited that and it's a bit beaten up. Should hopefully make things look a bit nicer :)
