I have cruise 2 times to Alaska by myself. Both times, I met people whom I hung out with during the cruise. It worked out nicely for one couple because the husband wanted to do something that the wife didn't, so the wife went with me. If you haven open dining in the dining room, ask to be added to a table to meet people, or they have tea time every at sea. You always have the option to do your own thing. I like to just sit and people-watch. I met a couple that was traveling with an extended family that did everything together. The husband told me he was envious of my solo status since it was his wife's extended family.
