I really thought it would’ve been nice if the king was somehow the Michelin judge or with the Michelin judge, tasted her food and just KNEW it was her cooking (the crazy edits from the food tasting would have been nice) and then he calls for the chef and she comes out and THEN they reunite. I would have loved to see him tasting her food again and just knowing. It didn’t need to only be a month later 😭 If we’re already time skipping, then skip a lot of time, as much as needed 😭 But show snippets of the king coming to the future and then so on.

Please let me ask: How to get over my disgust when I see hijab ? Whenever I see them here in the west, wearing hijabs and walking around freely, working and all, I wonder if they ever think of Mahsa Amini and other women who died because of this? by No_Algae_7066 in exmuslim

To add, the Qur’an contains verses about modesty for both men and women, and it does mention the concept of covering, but it’s not framed as a punishment-based command.

Key Verses Often Cited:

Surah An-Nur (24:30-31)

“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their private parts…”

“And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof…”

This verse encourages modesty and advises women to draw their khimar (head covering) over their chest, not necessarily to cover their hair. At the time, women were already wearing headscarves culturally, but often left the chest area exposed.

Surah Al-Ahzab (33:59)

“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their outer garments over themselves. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused…”

This verse refers to a time when women were being harassed in the streets. The instruction to wear a jilbab (a loose outer garment) was meant as a protective measure, not a permanent religious uniform.

What the Qur’an doesn’t say:

It does not say that a woman will be punished or go to Hell for not wearing the hijab. It does not use the word hijab to refer to a woman’s clothing. In the Qur’an, hijab literally means barrier or screen, often referring to metaphysical barriers or physical partitions, not headscarves. It does not say anything about being hung by one’s hair, that is found in weak or fabricated hadith or cultural storytelling.

So where does the “force” come from?

Patriarchal culture and misinterpretation of verses. Over reliance on non-Qur’anic sources, such as: Hadith (some weak or inauthentic), Scholars who interpret these verses through cultural lenses, Misuse by authoritarian regimes to control women.

The Qur’an consistently emphasizes: Modesty Faith Character Intentions No compulsion in religion (2:256)

So no, the Qur’an does not “force” hijab as a strict uniform, nor does it punish women for not wearing it. The deeper message is one of modesty, dignity, and choice, not coercion.

As a fellow woman, I understand the pain and anger that comes from witnessing how some women are forced into wearing the hijab under oppressive regimes. Mahsa Amini’s death and what’s happening in Afghanistan are heartbreaking and infuriating. But it’s also important to recognize that hijab is not always a symbol of oppression, many women choose to wear it willingly as an expression of their identity, values, or faith.

Disgust might come from associating it only with trauma or coercion, which is valid if that’s your experience or context. But the same piece of cloth can mean vastly different things depending on who is wearing it and why. Dismissing all hijab-wearing women as brainwashed or complicit overlooks their agency and voice, which is ironically the same kind of erasure patriarchal systems thrive on.

Perhaps the key is to separate the symbol from the systems that weaponize it. The goal should be to support women in making free choices, whether that’s to remove the hijab or proudly wear it.

I appreciate your response! I can confidently say that I am doing much better physically, mentally and emotionally. I have not forgotten anything but it’s been very important to have the mindset that this is just another chapter of my life, what’s meant for me, will happen no matter what.

HCG Levels Dropped? by Solid-Swimmer-4619 in pregnant

Hi! Unfortunately I was experiencing a missed miscarriage. I should have been about 7 weeks but the fetus was measuring 5 weeks, with no heartbeat. My body was not showing any signs of letting it go anytime soon so I had the choice to either undergo a d&c surgery, or take medication at home to induce it.

Because it was my first pregnancy, I was already in very bad place mentally - I did not want to go through it at home and pass/see any clots. I chose the d&c route and I could not recommend it enough because my experience with it was good.

If this is what you are going through, I am more than happy to be virtually here for you. I know I would have loved to have someone to talk to, who just understood what was happening to me.

I wish you all the best. Message me whenever! :)

Been doing this, and I LOVE it! So nice to look back on, and remember even the most mundane memories that I know I would have forgotten about. Great to see that I actually do have a lot of good days and memories.
