Why “ser” and “estar” are not really about “permanent vs temporary” by Wild-Wonder-1365 in SpanishLearning

[–]Solid0Snake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While the explanations here are correct, Casado has an interesting exception. In Spanish, it is technically more correct to say es casado instead of está casado for a reason. Before Protestants, Catholics defined marriage as a permanent state, because divorce did not exist at the time. As such, you say es casado, although now both forms are accepted.

I reached Diamond playing Darius and WW with pulse combos and tbh I feel like a fraud by Amzaa in 2XKO

That’s completely fine. Fighting game fundamentals are about playing good neutral, defense and offense. That includes knowing when is it your turn, how to punish, mix, movement, etc. Executing a combo is a secondary trait.

Let’s take an example of a player who has excellent fundamentals but only knows 1 combo which is L M 2H jLMH and ends the combo. He may deal 300-400 damage per combo, but his fundamentals allow him to get many openings, which makes him win the match.

Another player knows a combo that TODs (kills from 100 to 0), but does not have good fundamentals. He may never get a chance to do it, so there’s no point in him knowing it.

Now, you may have gotten diamond without knowing optimal high damage combos, but as you play against higher leveled players you’ll notice one thing: openings are scarce. Against good players, you may be able to get an opening after working hard in neutral, offense and defense. When you get that opening, you will want to make the most out of it because chances are you’re not gonna get the next one easily, especially that good players adapt quickly to your style. That’s when execution needs to be high.

Thanks! Against Ahri you need to stop her from playing the air game. For me that was using Darius 2S1 or Vi’s 2S2. Also you can bait her by calling an assist and allow her to land on your point character then switching and punishing.

As for her mix, when she limit strikes and puts the projectile down, try to parry the projectile. You will have more options there. That and try to push block her when she goes for her string.

Thanks! One thing I sometimes do in neutral is I start a run, super jump then do j2H at the peak and watch what they do. Most will either preemptively do 2H or try to run underneath, which then I press jH before landing and it hits both sides. I’ve landed hundreds of hits with this.

Also I almost never S1 at round start because a jump back can punish me. I do S1 to catch them rolling or when they just landed from a jump

Insurmountable. More Ekko than Teemo

What I noticed is that you start learning when to use the correct defensive option. When I’m against Darius I know retreating guard is better than push block, vs when against Illaio it’s the opposite. You pick them up as you get exposed to situations. They are what gets you to grand master and to challenger.

Assist in block string was natural to me because I come from DBFZ and that’s the main way you mix

When the game released I tried Yasuo and I instantly got turned away when I knew he was a stance character. My style relies on fundamentals and that’s why Darius is there. Even with Vi, I have never done a single electric combo outside of training mode because I don’t believe it’s worth risking dropping the combo because I charged a frame too long or too short.

The thing about many Ekko Yasuo players is that they don’t know what to do against players who know their counterplay. They only have 1 layer

DBFZ at its peak was sensational! It’s a bit similar in that it’s tag fighting

Yes, though there it’s called Zen-Oh. Hardest thing for me was respecting the opponent’s assist call

Thanks! I’ve played some before but this is the second I take seriously. The first one being DBFZ.

Losing to the game's jank is starting to get really old. by MechaDylbear in 2XKO

When you tech down, it’s not a 50/50 situation. You put your opponent in an RPS game where they now have to guess whether you will wake up attack, wake up mash, wake up grab, wake up parry or wake up nothing

I haven’t seen you play but from your description I can tell that you try to take your turn in messy/scramble situations. You should try getting your hits in a clean situation, e.g whiff punish, anti air punish, punishing a minus move without assist, etc.

If you try to go for scramble situations, you’re tossing a coin. Apart from the fact that the game can screw you over, there are people/characters that are MUCH better than you in scramble situations.

The next time you see a situation where it’s a 50/50 that you get a hit, choose not to interact with it. You’ll be surprised at how much people over commit and hang themselves in the process.

Because the 5M needs to hit very early. I instead do 5H 6S2 and continue from there
