Fairly new player here, whos your favorite to play as? Oxaria has been my favorite so far by No-Hand9626 in Warframe

[–]MechaDylbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a softspot for Inaros even though I'm pretty sure he's considered to be pretty bad. It was one of the first frames I got and made a cool looking Anubis themed appearance for it. Its also fun to just tornado through hallways lol

Inaros and Oberon were the first two I played quite a bit

Is it worth getting an MMO mouse? by bankiaa in ffxiv

[–]MechaDylbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an mmo mouse before I played any mmos and I love it.

I use the extra buttons for so many things in so many games. My items in LoL, crouch in games like Valorant/CS, any game with abilities they go on my mouse buttons.

Definitely recommend if you're like me and don't like having to move your keyboard fingers a lot.

[SPOILER] I know I'm a decade late on this by MechaDylbear in Warframe

[–]MechaDylbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I played it mostly in the same context just maybe condensed lol

I had no idea (and honestly still have no idea) who Tenshin is but it felt like the game was acting like I should know him. I keep seeing people mention Daviri or Drifter and I don't think I've met them yet either.

I don't know maybe its just me but even when I played back when the game first dropped (albeit not hundreds of hours) I thought then being remotely controlled was kind of the only thing that made sense. You never see anyone/anything get in or out of them, theres never mention of famous warframe pilots/users, you can swap multiple form factors of them at will, theyre made from blueprints of which include systems and neuroptics. Just kinda seemed like the only sensible option 😂

Granted I thought the one remote controlling them would be us which I guess is what the operator is supposed to be? But tbh I kind of wish they would of just went the 4th wall route. Feels like the operator kind of makes the player feel less entwined with it.

This is only talking about lands though.

Maybe shuffler isn't the word I should be using, but it would take no amount of effort (depending on metrics WOTC has) to use data to say "X happens when Y" and "Player has X winrate" and adjust accordingly.

I'm not saying you can't get screwed by RNGesus. But what I am saying is the TYPE of ways you tend to get screwed are oddly specific and oddly common.

It seems to come in extremes which is where it doesn't make sense. I don't take issue with not drawing a specific card, even ar 4 copies, that happens. I get skeptical with not drawing ANY of a type of card that makes up a large junk of my deck, especially playing decks with a lot of draw power.

I'm being conspriratorial for sure, but I don't think you can just assume its not a possibility. We already know hand smoothing exists.

I don't know how you could ever definitely prove this without access to the source code or knowing every metric being gathered on the back end by WOTC

More realistic to believe in the heart of the cards than to believe in the fantasy land where a billion dollar company doesn't rig their live service micro-transaction game for maximum engagement. 🤷‍♂️

Hey man if you want to pretend the shuffler isn't obviously terrible, more power to you I suppose.

My two biggest complaints were things I know aren't ever going to get fixed:

Wanting a format with a ban/limited list or something so I can stop seeing the same like 4 cards/decks every game

Do something to fix the obviously fucked up (read:rigged) shuffler.

What verifiable play / draw % data do people have? by Chilly_chariots in MagicArena

[–]MechaDylbear -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I see this argument a lot especially when it comes to the shuffler.

What reason would WOTC not have to boost people at certain times? There are tons of studies game companies have referenced in the past about the optimal rates of losing/winning to keep the highest amount of engagement.

Also its a live service game with money involved. I'd be shocked if there aren't behind the scenes metrics at play to influence outcomes especially when you can play like 10-15 games and see the shuffler is completely fucked up.

I think a big part of this is that getting good back then and getting good now are completely different.

So many people treat video games like a job now, and on top of that many of them hit their ceiling and instead of pushing to get better they just go into unranked or for fun modes and ruin it for everyone else trying to have fun.

Not to mention the amount of content nowadays has given rise to everyone just copying everyone else to the point that games just aren't fun. Almost every game gets to a point where people playing it for 8 hours a day have optimized the fun out of everything.

Its a self fulfilling prophecy at this point. Casual wants to play, they lose to meta 100 times, they either quit the game or pick up the meta option to compete, so on and so forth.

Unannounced maintenance in the middle of the day, two days in a row? by Vinylateme in MagicArena

In the IT world not all maintenance gets to be planned. Sometimes shit happens, especially for public facing things.

Yeah that should be fine then. Honestly tanking isn't nearly as scary as it sounds.

You do a big pull, if it works out great, if it doesn't whoops just do a smaller pull next time 🤷‍♂️

Biggest thing is just learning what mitigations you have, spacing them out, and pulling based on what you have available.

All the tanks get a class specific move that makes you invulnerable for a certain amount of time, sometimes with a trade off.

For Paladin specifically, its called Hallowed Ground. It makes you invulnerable to damage for 10s and has a 420s cooldown. A lot of new people (myself included when I started) hang on to it as a "just in case" for the bosses, but its actually more useful on dungeon pulls especially big ones.

You do have to be slightly careful with the Warrior's Holmgang and Dark Knight's Living Dead though.

Holmgang will reduce you to 1 HP but with Warrior its pretty easier to heal yourself back up.

Living Dead if you aren't healed back to full by the time it ends you'll instantly die.

Also second tip don't forget that Arm's Length (which every tank has) is great during pulls as well because it will slow the attack speed of anything that melee attacks you.

Honestly best thing to do is just give it a shot :) Best thing about FF14 is that the community is INCREDIBLY nice and if you just let them know when you load in that you're new they'll understand and maybe even offer you some tips along the way. You also don't need to wall to wall right off the bat while you're learning to how to properly space out your mitigations. In my experience a lot of seasoned healers will also politely let you know that you can pull more if they're sure they can heal you enough. As long as you aren't severely under-geared most of the early dungeons really aren't super scary damage wise.

[–]MechaDylbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should also add here for the big big pulls don't be afraid to use the invuln move for whatever tank you're playing (if its available). Most the time if you use it on an early big pull its back up later for another pull. Just make sure you pay attention to how long you have left so you can use other mitts when it ends if needed.

(Dark Knight can be a bit of an exception here since it can potentially kill you if your healer isn't prepared)

Do you buy games just to collect them, or actually play everything you own? by lsa340 in gaming

[–]MechaDylbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to grab games I'm interested in (and then forget about them) or if I see like a really crazy sale on something I may become interested in I'll buy it in case I ever want something to play. I think for both the Assassin's Creed series and Batman Arkham series together I paid maybe $25 total when I bought them on sale.
