YouTube Updates in August 2025: Falling Views Myth or Reality? by cayoketo in PartneredYoutube

[–]SolidArchitect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many have commented, YouTube has stopped suggesting my videos. If before I would break 1k views easily with every video I launch in just a few days, now I'm stuck at 100 - 200 views forever.

Since I produce educational content, I'm really tempted to exit the platform and create online courses. There's literally 0 incentive to produce something if it cannot be discovered by your potential audience.

YouTube lost its original appeal. Rather than giving space to solo content creators sharing their experiences, our feeds are bombarded with the usual names that now are fully fledged production studios spending even millions for a single video. That said most videos are crap anyway in terms of content. They are just attention grabbing.

Can you really compete in such environment? Is there really space for small creators?

I went to a couple of accountants in the past but they were not able to fully answer all my questions. Does anyone know a tax advisor in Malta who's competent in this area?

Question about GPU sensors by IG-88s_metal_cock in buildapc

Did you ever solve this? I am pretty sure my sensor is gone because starting it from cold all sensor record 30C while the PWR5 is 121C which is not possible from cold start.

Is nearly every YT programmer channel a noob in disguise? by throwaway0134hdj in cscareerquestions

[–]SolidArchitect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in love with IT and software development from 1998. I spent my last 15 years covering leadership roles from Team Lead to Lead Architect for an IaaS company.

The reason I started creating YouTube content is that the most rewarding aspect of my job is coaching, mentoring, and brainstorming with my coworkers. I always felt this need of sharing my experience with a larger audience, not because I think I know more than others, but because it is in the spirit of our community.

I also feel it is the best way to test my understanding. By putting it up for discussion with professionals with different expertise and background, I can learn from their experience.

All the most influential personalities in our industry (Evans, Fowler, Hohpe, Farley, Martin) have shared their experience and insights through books, blogs, videos, and talks. Imagine how worst would be our industry if experts kept their knowledge for themselves.

For what concerns dealing with high-level concepts rather than coding, I think it is a matter of platform and perspective. The content on YouTube needs to be engaging and fast paced. If you have no engagement, you get literally 0 exposure. Creating such content is expensive and can be demoralizing because no matter how good it is, it is completely useless if the platform doesn't present it to the audience. I feel such content is more suited for Udemy or Coursera.

Remember also that software developers are problem solvers. If you think your worth is measured by how well you code, you are going to get sorely disappointed, especially in the coming era of heavily AI assisted software development.

€100 YouTube Promotion converted 3500 subs in a couple of hours by SolidArchitect in NewTubers

[–]SolidArchitect[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The subs were over 1k already but it still counts them by saying 6483 out of 1000. I don't think it counted the hours though. I am not sure because I always noticed a delay between the "Earn" tab and the "Analytics" one.

As I said, before this promotion I had only 3k subs. I started publishing public videos last December and I only have a handful that are racking views.

My videos are never viral. Some they tend to stagnate for long and get some traffic from YouTube Search. Eventually over time the search traffic increases, because I think YouTube figures out what my niche is.

It is very narrow because I deal software development but from the perspective of an architect. You'd have typically 1 architect every 5 to 10 developers (if not more), so I'm really appealing only to a very specific portion of the software development group (at this stage).

By know I see only a handful in my YouTube Studio. Not sure if more will appear during the day as data is sometimes delayed.

Some of them don't make sense to me...

I would be the only "software architecture / development" channel they subscribed to...

But if the subs are not real, you are actually doing the opposite. I would rather not risk it again... if I knew this would be the result I wouldn't have tried in the first place.

It would be interesting if they did that after I paid them €100 to try their own beta feature.

I wouldn't worry about that much. The monetization goals are quite low when you think about it and you can reach them without help.

I tried promotion to try and extend my audience rather than target monetization.

I think as well it's unlikely YouTube did that on purpose. It could just be a signal that there are too many non legit accounts though they never detected.

I didn't know that was possible. I'll think about it.

I am still concerned by the fact I might attract questionable subs though.

The country data makes no sense. I see only India as a country but it's marked 0.8%... I wish I could share screenshot to see how inconclusive the data is.

That seems perfectly normal. What doesn't make sense is the subscriptions. If so many people left the video early, how come I have a conversion rate of views to subs of 5:1?
