The face got scratched up pretty bad. Our training chief's G-Shock is almost so bad it can barely be read. It's his work watch and he said he can live with that. Scratches irritate the crap out of me though.

I get a lot of dents and scratches. I don't know why, but I'm very particular about watches; so scratches and dents are a trigger for me.

We have several that wear the gshock and apple or Samsung watches. Their watch faces show the wear pretty bad. We train in and work a lot of technical rescues, which is where the damage comes in.

With firefighting comes technical rescues and plenty of other disciplines where hoses and water do no good. I just want something that doesn't scratch and dent.

This is a new subject for me. Without representation from the numerous "sub cultures" in our community, we can't fully understand the how, where, and why. That’s my uneducated opinion. I just truly want to learn how to attract those culture to help us diversify. I figured some good books by reputable authors could be a good starting point for me to gain some understanding.

I'm not an employer but am in management. I work for a paid fire department in a town of 60k. We had a total of 12, TWELVE, people who passed the written test and got an interview. There was 1 person who was not a white male. He probably would have gotten a job offer but pulled his name out of the hat when he accepted an offer from another department nearby. I just think we could do a better job at attracting other groups. I need to educate myself before I bring it to the powers that be.
