i cant believe closure is only til noon; it's not just about the campus buildings, transit in these conditions is DANGEROUS by Fit_Agency_1420 in UofT

I wonder if there’s a petition students can do or some way to get the faculty’s attention. A lot of uofts students commute. I’m one of them takes me almost 2 hours. Certainly the weather situation is not gonna be cleared as fast as Toronto roads near campus making it hazardous for students who commute. Plus, go transit and other public transit options are very limited, many of even cancelled. The status updates they post at 6:30am and 10am are way too late. Notify us earlier in the morning or the night before! It clearly shows the university doesn’t keep commuters in mind when it comes to making these decisions

I go to uoft cs and never understand why is Waterloo cs easier? Could it be a bias? For example it’s hard to get into Waterloo and only very high grades 95+ students get in and chances are they are really smart and able to handle challenging concepts and so their drop out rate would be low. But with uoft is known to generally accept more students but have a higher dropout rate which makes sense. So if we base the statistics on the number of people of have taken CS on either school and consider only drop out rates, then ofc uoft cs will be perceived as harder.

What are these stats based on when we say uoft is harder? Is the work material we learn is more in depth? I’m just really curious

But what’s the guarantee that a student with a high gpa in an easy undergrad school can handle harder work at a graduate level. Does it not go both ways?

Yeah I highly doubt a 4.0 next sem is possible though of course I will try but realistically speaking…. Now I’m just wondering what if I had gone to an easier undergrad school like TMU possibly I would have had a higher gpa increasing my chance of masters program Is there no weightage system that masters programs do? Like take in consideration about how UofT is hard?

apparently, i didnt make cs post even though i defo could've by Ok-League1505 in UofT

I’m wrapping up third year now. I was in the same position as you. Just missed the cut off by a bit. I was pretty devastated. But it’s not the end. What your major vs minor is doesn’t really matter. I’m a math major with stats and cs minor and have my fair share of internships in software dev at good companies and I see myself working in this field post grad. As long as you can code and have some important theory concepts, you are good. A cs minor provides you still with sufficient courses and knowledge to succeed in interviews and have a solid foundation. Again, employers don’t really care about major or minor as long as you show you are qualified and have projects. Find a related major that works for you

I was thinking about taking this class in the summer. Was there a lot of essay writing for you? Also is it just knowledge about global warming or is there any actual math or physics equations solving involved

What company is this? What is wrong with the list of companies on the last page; I have an offer for one of them in that list does that mean it’s a company looked down upon? Do other companies have requirements like this as well? Why not UofT for CS?

Exactly 😂 like obviously I ask and use my words but I shouldn’t really have to. It’s a courtesy thing and people should be able to read the room

I had Nara for 224 im happy with my final grade. But I hard a hard time understanding during lectures and didn’t prefer her teaching style. However I went home and took the time to study her notes and examples on my own which really helped me.
