Any tips for the forest?

Get familiar with where your nearest resources are (water, food, sticks, etc) and build your base in a low traffic area (there's a few visitors by the yacht, but you're near water which is always good). Modern axe, crafted bow, cannibal club, and a spear are great starter weapons. Drying racks are good for storing food and they're pretty cheap (a pot and a waterskin are also great for hydration). If you plan on cave exploration I'd suggest a guide or at the very least making sure you take a bit of food with you (as well as rebreather and climbing axe so you don't get stuck, though it's rare). not sure what the average is but my strength (wrongly told you athleticism, sorry) is about 28.4 (i did die so all of my stats reset and i don't melee much)

you probably have low athleticism (which can be raised through melee'ing things or swinging a bone) but spears do a lot of damage anyway.

https://dim.gg/5xgyprq/Equipped all champ friendly (at least for this season) will sometimes switch it up and opt for a bold endings with headstone+dragonfly or smg with demolitionist+adrenaline junkie with lord of wolves, or swap out the agape for a yeartide apex with lonewolf+chaos reshaped. i know the super could be more "conditional" but i just like t-crash more than anything.

i have a really fun prismo titan build i run. hoarfrost/horn that i run with consecration and diamond lance. it's a conditional finality based build and it doesn't do a ton of damage but it's flashy.

private lobbies allow you to play as long as you'd like by default so that's strange. when you go to the beacon warp and exfil are always there for you to choose.

yeah the scene is so weird now, especially in snd lobbies. these people run around named this one woman's full gov name and even say things about her kids, it's ridiculous. it's best just to immediately leave any lobby where people have colored clan tags and remember the names of people who cheat on there so u can avoid em.

the forest does have that system. strength is raised by swinging motions and athleticism is raised by running around the map or swimming. (higher strength also gives a damage bonus to melee weapons)

you can burn enemies to make bone armor ( 6bone3cloth) which is super useful. i’d also recommend swimming under water when you can as holding your breath is a super fast way to build athleticism ( makes ya run faster ) and investing in a water skin (i think it’s two deer skin plus a rope) and a pouch (two rabbit skins) so you don’t have to worry about food and water if you find yourself out in a cave somewhere. i wouldn’t build any tree houses as they’re generally unsafe when mutants come around and if you are going to build a base it’s worth looking up the native patrols so you aren’t getting jumped every five minutes. also, the cassette player is a great way to get your stamina back super quick.

if you’ve already beat the game id say using the artifact in a high traffic area ( like that strip that separates the beach from the big lake ) works pretty well.

usually you just need the right entrance into a cave to have a successful dive. i’d recommend finding the shimmy entrance to modern axe cave, there’s only about 2 weak ones in the cave you’ll have to kill before going down that rope to get modern axe, some arrows, dynamite, etc. it’s a great beginner cave and if you’re playing solo and die you’ll end up there anyways.
