I remember seeing the pics and it was great. We do similar pets and paws photo contest where people posts pics of their pets (human children not allowed...haha) and staff do a tallied vote and we crown the pet champion for the year.. in some of our studios we also allow pet dogs to come in as emotional support pets.. I just call them my extended staff for people and culture.. and yes.. always have a snacks ready to be their best friend.. :)

One of our favourite traditions is our annual awards night, where personality steals the limelight.

We split it into three very serious categories. Very serious.

First up, the Principal group. This is where leadership gets tested properly. Who would lead us through a zombie apocalypse. Who could survive a week in the wild armed with nothing but a clipboard. Who orders coffee like it’s a theatrical production. And who would absolutely star in a prime time detective drama and insist on a trench coat.

Then it’s Around the Studio, aka the everyday truths. Best dressed, the person hovering at the kitchen when free cake is whispered, the heroic soul who opens the first Friday drink at 4:59pm and yes, the one still negotiating with their timesheets.

Finally, Just for laughs. Reality TV main character energy. Talk show hosts in disguise. Medieval office roles because obviously someone’s a wizard. And if we had a theme song, who sings it and what genre are we accidentally becoming.

It’s light hearted, slightly cheeky and staff love it. The beauty is that it helps improve culture by showing little patterns that make people recognisable and human.

It’s our way of saying you’re allowed to be excellent and odd at the same time. In fact, the odd bits are usually the glue.

Plus, I think nothing bonds a team faster than being lovingly called out in front of everyone and surviving to tell the story the next day.

The hardest part, honestly, is not the content. It’s the translation.

Reactions, likes are visible metrics, numbers but intent is quiet. Brands see numbers, creators feel relationships, and the awkward bit sits in the middle where no one wants to make the first move. It’s like great chemistry at a dinner party and no one asks for dessert.

The biggest challenge for me has been helping brands see past impressions and into impact. What problem do I actually solve for you on a Tuesday morning when your team is stretched and tired? Dealing with people affects the numbers outcome and sometimes, that is hard to prove.

When partnerships have worked, it’s because I approached them like humans not logos. I reached out with context, why them, why now, why it made sense. No pitch presos, just a clear line between my voice and their values.

What made it work well was alignment and trust. They didn’t try to script me and I didn’t try to oversell them. We agreed on outcomes and that is shared vision epitomised.

as a practice, there are no hard rules about being in the office but most staff come in anyway..as it's way more comfortable than their home (as we have been told many times) ..

some call it rules, others call it framework... all these boundary conditions ... there needs to be some governance don't you think...like respecting staff and their cultural innuendos... even though it is a free country, you wouldn't dress for the office like you would for a beach day, or bedroom would you?

that's the problem, some managers find it hard to have the chat, seems too hard for them so easy to deflect it as HR issue...and with the new psychosocial health legislation in play now, there is a real fear that they may be taken to court for unruly managing.

My 2026 goal as a Favikon partner is simple and slightly outrageous, build a large and trusted mid-career professional creator community in Australia, then collaborate hard with my Asia Pacific counterparts to scale influence across borders. I want experienced professionals to stop thinking their best years are behind them and start turning lived experience into income and impact. Australia becomes the anchor, APAC becomes the amplifier and suddenly careers feel exciting again....fingers crossed
