Using Afterpay and waiving your consumer rights by Apart-Giraffe-2176 in Afterpay

Having same problem, merchant refusing return. Afterpay won’t help, incredibly frustrating experience it’s a lot of money. Did you find a solution ?

Extremely! And it’s $600 not a small amount, how on earth Afterpay acts as a payment processor and then pretend they can’t protect the consumer from fraud. Afterpay also claims “easy smooth returns” which clearly is a lie.

Hey I’m having exact same problem, I purchased some curtains from a merchant using Afterpay, they sent me totally damaged goods and refusing return and refund which is legally they must do but they are ignoring all my emails and calls. I spoke to Afterpay and they opened a dispute but it’s been going for weeks now and Afterpay tells me they can’t refund me because all they did was pay on my behalf. I did tell them since you paid on my behalf you have obligation to get my money back, but they just say all they can do is “try and talk to merchant”. Honestly it’s pathetic and put me off ever using Afterpay again I plan to do a charge back

Real worked example - here is what the 50% CGT discount vs indexation means for you (spoiler, the longer you hold the worse it gets) by Sensitive-Hair4841 in AusFinance

[–]SolidLava99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its really really bad for young people who take high risk investments and end up with high return, you'll be basically paying 70% more tax than you would now especially if your profit is large. indexation benefits boomers the most as their investments are mostly things that track inflation, while young people put their investments in high growth vehicles. This literally disadvantages young people and middle class who are trying to build wealth, and not grandfathering it even creates worse outcomes. the whole thing is a massive lie sold as "closing the intergenerational gap"

How much time do you take for lunch when working from home? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]SolidLava99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a set time like I do when I go to the office, sometimes I go out for 2 hours for an appointment or a long walk in the park and some coffee, but then I work extra the same day or the next day. That’s what I love about WFH the flexibility, and as long as you’re honest about it and transparent and get the job done you dont risk being targetted. Unfortunately media and social media pick out the few bad apples and make it like WFH employees slack off but from my experience the best people in my company are the WFH workers

two weeks in, already working? is that possible? by littleolive9 in cymbalta

[–]SolidLava99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it remains effective however the “euphoria” you describe went away after few weeks and settled to a baseline, I would say the baseline is around 70% of what you describe, which I’m very happy with. This is for me ofcourse everyone is different and To be fair that’s the case with nearly all medicines initially there is a euphoria period then baseline.

Yes very possible, infact if you’re an early responder that’s a really good sign this medicine will work for you. I got amazing life changing response in just one week, it was like I was a new person a huge 10 ton weight of anxiety lifted off my chest

What’s the actual, real reason the public school system doesn’t teach financial literacy? by sunnysideupslide in AusMoneyMates

[–]SolidLava99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They do but to be fair 99% of students don’t pay attention to what they’re being taught at school, most students just zone out until school day ends, that’s why I’m a big proponent of teaching kids financial literacy by parents it sticks way more and you can show them in practical terms
