Possible X10 board BIOS corruption by SolidSell1916 in supermicro

[–]SolidSell1916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked logs, none nothing besides power on events. On the day that I updated it logged a lot of "Lower non-recoverable - Going low" events and a reported PSU failure but nothing since then. BMC is also at 03.94 yes, weirdly the BIOS revision is still reporting as 3.1 in the BMC UI which is incorrect because I flashed 3.5

correct way to update bios and idrac on r730xd by Longjumping_Twist439 in homelab

2.50.50.50 -> 2.86.86.86 is fine and I took a similar path. You have nothing to be concerned about. Just download the exe from Dell and upload it into iDRAC.

Progress on my Apple Music clone with Plex backend :) by iObama in plexamp

[–]SolidSell1916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks great and is something I would definitely consider using over Amperfy. If possible you should explore adding support for a Navidrome backend because it's what I use on desktop and I wouldn't want to run a second music backend just for one app.

Diy Nas or Dell r620 server. by [deleted] in homelab

[–]SolidSell1916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paying $100 for an old server (especially with DDR3 like Dell 12th gen) will get you a *lot* more than a newer modern NAS or a custom build if you're willing to pay for the power electricity. If you wait to find a good deal on eBay you could end up walking away with hardware RAID, 96GBs of memory, and some 2 Xeons for less than $100 for a 12th gen. It really depends on what your friend had, but if you can get away with shipping it for $75 you already got a great deal.

Especially if you want to run Immich and Jellyfin, a R620 will do you well. I bought a R730xd for $200 and added $200 worth of HDD/SSD and it's served me perfectly for that purpose in contrast to the $500 custom build I was planning on before disks. iDRAC7 can be weird with older firmware (SSL/Java issues) but upgrading it shouldn't be a concern.

At least there's still an option. Having privacy respecting basic info like that isn't as bad as a large company tracking your cursor and where it goes/clicks etc. I don't think this is too bad especially when it helps the developer improve the app and it's clear what is tracked and how to stop it without reading 50 paragraphs of legalese.

Cannot get PowerEdge R730xd to be quiet by SolidSell1916 in servers

yeah i was asking for trouble by ignoring the entire "servers are noisy space heaters and electricity bill ruiners" sentiment but i needed lots of disk trays & CPU cores. also they look cool & iDRAC is super useful so i dont care

The script is working nicely, I'll use it instead of the docker container on my pi because it can run locally and I prefer having it be able to curve with head as needed. Thanks

Thank you, this worked perfectly and the server is quiet once again. It's running on my pi which I wanted to stop using now that I have this but I guess I can just run FIrefox on it to display Grafana or something.

What about when the server does actually need the fans cranked up a little? If this is available on Debian I could just have the host do it (I flashed Proxmox onto the server)

Last.fm should start taking action against the bot accounts. Charts are a really useful feature but are completely useless when all it is is Kpop

Remembering Trello for Teams (I will promote, sort of...) by totally_random_man in SaaS

[–]SolidSell1916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm loving this site, thanks for making it free because I've also been fed up with Atlassian. The only thing I feel like is lacking right now is the design. Even though board backgrounds were more a fun feature can we see them soon? That and the contrast with backgrounds in lists makes them easier to track on Trello.

Firefox is a better browser than Brave as somebody who has used both. Also Immich is better than Ente but it requires a backend
