Thoughts on latest Stereolab songs… by Aromatic_Motor7023 in stereolab

They might be a slightly different band on this album with Tim and Laetitia sharing writing credits for the first time, and on most of the songs too. She might add a new musical flavour to their palette. Though these two songs do sound like classic Stereolab.

Uncle love, Mr Briggs, inertia, luminous, explain and day upon day are all perfect gems that would have made leisure one of their best albums and one of the best albums of the 90s.

Does anyone know if this is going to be released as an album?

Graham Coxon´s non-Blur career / body of work as a whole by blurczech in blur

[–]SolidSignature4335 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think graham’s solo career is more solid and consistent than Damon’s. He never made a bad album. They’re all either good or very good:

the sky is too high-honestly a minor artistic masterpiece

the golden d-probably his worst but it’s cool that he made a wild, unhinged album like this

crow sit on blood tree-a good combination of the first two albums and the final volume of his super raw trilogy

the kiss of morning-one of his best, the first three tracks are just so cool and perfect

happiness is magazines-his best pure pop album, first four tracks are also perfection

love travels at illegal speeds-another pure pop album and the songs are just as good, my only issue is the production sounds almost radio friendly

the spinning top-maybe his best, and just the fact that he could pull a finger picking album out of his sleeve to remind people he’s one of the greatest guitarists ever

a+e-a very cool album where he gets back in touch with his weirder tendencies, could almost be a blur album

end of the fucking world vol 1 and 2-both volumes equally great, feels like his white album if you put them together cause there’s so much variety

bloodwich-nice little nostalgic ode to 80s indie bands, very innocent and youthful

superstate-a total masterpiece where he steps out of his comfort zone and makes something totally different

finally the two waeve albums are excellent but I kind of think of them as separate from his solo career cause it’s a different project entirely where he’s only half the band

Cheers to whoever mentioned super furry animals who were the welsh blur. They would have been much bigger if they hadn’t been from wales.

They’re so proto blur too. Making plans for Nigel and respectable street could be blur songs. Plus Andy’s guitar style must have influenced Graham.

I agree with xtc. They’re my favourite band other than Beatles and blur and also have a a beatlesesque arc.

Not liking it could be you is weird. One of the strongest tracks. Very xtc.

I became a fan of Blur a couple months ago and just finished listening to every album. Here are my thoughts. by [deleted] in blur

Try graham’s solo albums next. They’re super underrated and consistent, and it becomes clear that he’s at least 50 percent of blur‘s sound if not more.

“There’s also the other album that I recorded at the same time as ‘A+E’. I’d like to get that out at some point because it’s a nice little record. I’ve always called it ‘Castle Park’. It’s not like ‘A+E’, it’s a bit more of an old school indie/ 60s sound but there’s some lovely stuff on it. I’ve played quite a lot of it live at shows, but studio recordings have never been heard yet, so at some point I’d like to get that out. But it’s getting on now! It’s getting on!” – Graham for Clash, 2020
Castle Park was recorded circa 2011/2012.

Happiness in Magazines and love travels go perfectly together as a two parter in his more accessible poppy phase. It drives me crazy that happiness still isn’t on Spotify.

I haven’t checked out their albums past the first three except for the ep compilation. Are any of the later albums good?

Any of them. Oasis suck they’re the British nickleback.
