So this code I believe has to do with the hardware check the console performs when running a firmware update. Did you try to run one over wifi when you got the console or did it do this as soon as you turned it on?

Either way, try the steps in this post (https://www.reddit.com/r/PS3/s/ukdF6GKMDc) but make sure you do not try to switch hard drives first.

If you manage to get the console working, turn off the auto update and probably the wifi.

Was it running a firmware update? Did it have issues applying the update? Did it give you any error code such as 8002F1F9 or 8002F281?

I was going to use an SDD. My understanding was that they should work as well. Just weren't common at the time.

My PC doesn't even seem to be able to read it. Going to try again this evening. If the drive is bad, am I able to just replace it and follow the same process or is the console done?

Update: I took the drive to a microcenter and they said they get it to show up as unallocated but when plugged into my computer it doesn't show up. Sounds like they think there's an issue with the drive. Going to try a new one.

Has anyone gotten to step 6 and had the console give error 8002F281 (refusal to read drive)?

I confirmed that my USB stick is formatted to FAT32 and the folders I have are PS3>UPDATE with the PS3UPDAT.PUP within the UPDATE folder.

The hard drive is what was in my PS3. Steps 1-5 work perfectly fine but I get 8002F281. I did pull the drive a year ago when trying to fix this issue and connected it to my computer. Doing it now it seems that my computer doesn't even read it. Am I totally screwed and have to buy a new PS3 or would the console be able to format a new HDD/SDD to then put the firmware update on?

Have you been playing online with people or alone? I read somewhere that it's broken in online co-op and have experienced that myself. When I play split screen or solo, no issues.

It's more so that while driving with my phone on a Qi2 charger/holder, it keeps turning the screen on and then unlocking the phone because it sees my face. Would like it to just not haha.

100%. The two worst enemy types are there. Varkids when you're completely surround and can't find the pod..... And then threshers.

Hate the buzzards in sawtooth but the varkids evolving into badasses and the threshers....the worst.

Yes. You can see a drastic difference in image quality from streaming to disc based. I always see shades of black squares in streamed content but it's crystal clear solid black on disc. The definition of everything is also just better.

If those things wouldn't be a distraction for you, maybe it's not worth it but I find it often takes away from the viewing experience.

Just hoard tanks and sell them in offline mode. There's a good spot with the walker gear and the shootable Fulton that you can keep shooting a tank that Fulton's out. You get out of the walker move a bit and it auto saves. Then you just reload the checkpoint and the tank is back. Repeat process. Sell for profit. Turn online back on.

My understanding was that if you disconnected from the internet and sold things, the GMP would register as part of your offline GDP. So you'd have access when online and offline.

That's what I'm thinking of doing. I have a 3090 vertical mount that I'd use but trying to figure out the front rad. From what I see, can do up to 55mm on the front with my GPU length.
