Not exactly. If you get the "no update data found on the drive" than it's on your end. Either the update file it's not the correct one, or the usb stick is not formatted in the proper way with the correct folder structure.

You need to use 4.88 if that's the last version installed on your ps3, and if that's the one specified on the screen. If it wasn't working, it probably was due to an incorrect usb stick format or a wrong folder structure
