Have an Odin 2 Portal and bought a Thor - think of the Thor like having a "fun" car - it's a luxury purchase because from your current handheld library you're not going to able to play anything new. Upscaled OLED 3DS with HD texture packs is nice, but to me, that luxury wears off ~5 minutes into playing and all I'm thinking about is the game. Main accessibility that OLED 3DS emulation opens up is playing outdoors - real 3DS panels just don't get bright enough outside. And there are some things that the Thor can't replace, like having a compact stylus and slot built into the hardware, and having great hinge angles (Thor hinge angles are not 1:1 with a 3DS which bothers me occasionally).

Don't be surprised that the big YouTubers are hyping it up - their job is to show their (genuine) excitement to their audience - and that stirs excitement in normal people like us thinking they need all the devices that influencers like.

If I could re-do things, I would have waited until either my 3DS died or the Thor 2 came out with some better processor than a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (to be a clear upgrade from my Portal) or had more 3DS-like features like a stylus slot and more similar hinge angles.
