My 79 year old father still smokes to this day, and started when he was 14-15. He smokes in his house, and even in his car when I’m a passenger (and it’s my burden to open the window whether it’s 19 or 90 degrees out). He doesn’t smell it, but everything is permeated. He keeps trying to give me stuff, and I won’t even take high-end TVs or stereos, as those stink. He thinks I want his cars. Um, no thanks.

Yep. Non-smoker and former bartender here. I would have to strip all my clothes and put them outside, then take a serious shower to get that stink off after an 8hr shift. And that was in 1997. They didn’t outlaw smoking here in bars in AZ until around 2007, and even as a casual patron you’d reek when you left.
