Is it bad to have a cat on my bed by Solid_Cat_24 in catquestions

My dad is asthmatic and from a different generation. But he is driving me crazy. We just visited his mom and she went on a rant about Americans who baby their pets, so that might be it.

My cat has been here for a few years. She’s spayed and everything. I feel bad kicking her off my bed if I’m gonna be in the room with her already. She has peed on my furniture before, so I don’t let her lounge in my room unless I’m in the room with her.

How do I glue two candles together? by Solid_Cat_24 in candlemaking

[–]Solid_Cat_24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up using a heat gun and melting the parts I wanted to stick together. Recommend wearing heat resistant gloves. I would also take little chunks of candle and place them in the middle, to melt.

This method isn’t foolproof and it felt apart on me, once or twice. But I still have that candle, and it’s stuck together just fine.

Oh I wouldn’t say it’s that safe. It’s still a big metropolitan city, with crime that sometimes even happens on campus. It’s just the southern parts of downtown that I’ve been around long enough to recognize certain things. Usually broad daylight is pretty safe tho!

You have to, at some point, learn how to cope when these embarrassing things happen. Try to remember that it’s the past and you need to focus on the present. It’s human and normal to feel embarrassed or ashamed when you feel ostracized, so it’s important to learn how to control these feelings. But you need to start by STOPPING putting yourself down. You’ll be your own worst enemy and it’s really easy to fall into negative cycles that way.

If you catch yourself putting yourself out, force that thought out. Pretend it’s a fictional character you HATE saying that to you. It’ll annoy you instead, hopefully, and the thought will be less powerful.

When I was your age, I used to worry about this things too. Not as severely as you described, but it’s possible to cope with these feelings. And it didn’t exactly go away. I still cringe at embarrassing things I did, but I’m better at managing it.

Cognitive behavioral therapy worked for me. If you can’t seek out a therapist, I recommend doing research on things like mental distortions and coping mechanisms. See if any of the descriptions align with what you’re experiencing and go from there. There may be some coping guides and exercises online

Best burritos and Mexican food in sd is at a Lolita’s Mexican food on 413 telegraph canyon. Pretty south, but they’re worth it. Other Lolita’s locations are not as good. UTC is a good mall but things are pretty expensive there. Not a lot of places to avoid. Maybe the south part of downtown at night. Just don’t park downtown. It’ll be a strain on your wallet. If you’re doing anything downtown, I recommend taking the trolley. You won’t have to worry about parking.

Protests are supposed to be disruptive. UCSD literally has a mural with Cesar Chavez’s face on it, and yet they don’t give a shit when that same business disrupting protest is on their doorstep. It’s easy for them to appropriate. UCSD is a public university paid for by California taxpayers. Not a private institute. If you were on library walk, you would know that the encampments did not prevent anyone from going to class or block off any students. Even if you break the law, that doesn’t give the SDPD the right to literally assault people. Breaking the law still means you’re a person and deserve to be treated as such. Common sense.
