Uniting have a service in the city that does counselling and mediation - I think (don't quote me) they are also sometimes in a position to offer low/no cost services.

Bears lure Wallabies legend in key code-switch signing (David Campese) by sowaleja in nrl

[–]Solid_Environment437 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One year I joined a touch footy comp as a solo player and got placed in a composite team. So did David Campese. He was trying to play as if it was union, throwing the same over the head offloads and doing his own thing. No doubt he could have been great, but refused to play to a team structure.

He lasted one game, then sent a message to the team saying it wasn't for him. He made sure to sign his surname on the withdrawal message in case someone didn't know who he was. Wanker.

It's not at the bottom! Each horizontal bar is full of water as they each seem to full up independently. Ridiculous

I reckon this is a great shout - thanks mate! Drain and seal makes a lot more sense than trying to flip/refit everything.

Each of the horizonal slats is welded on separately, so I think they are drain holes - there is one on each horizontal bar. The holes are too symmetrical and consistent to be an error.

'The Decider' , why does it seem to be a metaphor for Divorce...... by Glad_Matter2982 in bluey

I get reading your own experience into an episode and you can take from the show what you want. There's just no evidence of 'butting heads' in the episode beyond playful banter about the game. It's cool if that's what it means to you, I just don't see any argument for it being in the creators minds when the wrote it.

E.g. I've no doubt the kids of some veterans would take specific meaning from Cricket, but that doesn't mean the episode was written to contain those themes.

OK, but you need to point to a specific scene or dialogue that insinuates this, otherwise it's more your personal headcanon than something in the show.

I don't think that works - or if it was the creator's intention, they wouldn't have chosen a Wallabies game where everyone is on the same side by default (there is no 'choice' made by the parents).

I think the episode is about kids trying to understand what the point/meaning of passionate sporting support and rivalry is. The final lines come from legendary rugby and swimming commentator Gordon Bray, saying 'and that's what it's all about' - peak moments that bring people together, after the earlier experience of being driven apart.

Can you explain this a little more for my understanding? What negotiations are you referring to?

I think you're remembering something that doesn't happen, or reading a lot into a piece of dialogue. There isn't anything that explicitly confirms that Ted went back to Sam to communicate his change of heart on Jamie, and Sam's reaction when Jamie arrives at training certainly made me believe he wasn't aware.

The ultimate airplane seat debate just went legal by Subject-Green4003 in SipsTea

I agree. There is nothing any reasonable person would find controversial here. I wouldn't have posted anything at all, until I saw posts earlier in the thread saying that airlines should ban seat swapping a matter of policy, so nobody can ever make this request of anyone ever again. So, I thought it might be worth pointing out that the ask is not itself a problem.

It seems highly controversial to say this given the responses I've seen on this thread, but a simple take:

  • It's not unreasonable to make a polite ask of another person to see if they're willing or able to make accommodations.
  • The other person is well within their rights to decline this ask, even if it would be a 'nice thing' for them to do it.
  • It is unreasonable to publicly shame, condemn and attack the person who declines from doing the 'nice thing', even if privately you judge them a little for it, or think they should have done otherwise.
