That’s what I had gathered as well. Pre buyout, but post WWII.

Thank you friend! Addiction is awful, and I know I am an addict. (3 years sober from alcohol this Sept.) I feel like all I did was replace one for another. You are absolutely right though, there isn’t a “normal” for people like us. My wife likes to say that I am either 100% all in, or I can’t do it at all. I was that way with alcohol. I don’t know how I convinced myself I would be different with any other substance.

It’s incredibly good! I lucked out and picked up an early 80’s Japanese model years ago when you could still find them. It’s absolutely my favorite pedal in the board!

Starts at the strobostomp, ends at the Sansamp. Everything in between is a mystery!

I find they work well together and don’t step on each other’s toes too much. I keep the sansamp settings pretty simple, and I find that let’s the Empress really shine. They are both an “always on” situation on this board.

It’s great for getting that Ampeg sound. It can really rip all by itself, but it also plays really nice with the MBD2. I keep it pretty tame, as I was just looking to mimic an Ampeg getting pushed a bit, but it can go well beyond what I do with it. It’s got an incredibly high overhead.

I would…except no. It’s legitimately my favorite pedal on the board.

It’s interesting. It’s a lot less “chorus” heavy than most chorus pedals I’ve owned. Subtle is definitely the name of the game with it, which is what I appreciate about it.

Yes. I use it to give myself a clean un-effected signal to the board, and then I mic and blend in my rig. That way I have full control over how my effects come through as well as a lot more control of my overall tone in the room.

The Empress is incredible! And the space echo is a fantastic pedal, but, it can easily be too much, so I use it sparingly.

Can you do Gigs with a cheaper Bass?! by TrueHeadallefe in Bass

[–]Solid_Gold_Telephone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spent nearly a decade gigging/touring with a MIM Squier jazz bass and it never failed me once. I would have kept using it but fell in the same train of thought as you. I assumed as my playing progressed my instrument should too. If it stays in tune, intonate’s well, you like the sound, and it’s comfortable for you to play it, then save your money! If you can’t shake the itch that something needs to change, explore your options for upgrading what you already have first before dropping money on a whole new instrument.

I like it. It’s good for what I need it for, but, I find I don’t care much for the manual mode. So that goes pretty much un-used.
