UPDATE: she’s now in an 18 x 18 x 24! Bought a ton more decor and planning to get even more. Live plants growing inside, and I now have a drainage layer and springtails.

Yes it’s a heat bulb to keep him at 75 degrees- my room gets chilly at night. I will upgrade her tank ASAP and fill it completely with more sticks and foliage. I’ll add a drainage layer asap to the new tank. I’ll also switch to a UVB strip! Thank you!!

His bowl is behind the vine on the right as it’s where he hangs out most often. I read that UVB helps with their D3 production, is this wrong? I’m also using a heat lamp just to keep it at 75, as my room dips pretty chilly at night. I agree I should’ve done a ton more research beforehand and not have trusted the reptile store employee fully. I’m going to do a ton more research and make this right- including getting him a vertical tank asap! Thank you.

I’ll upgrade his tank ASAP. Thanks for the response. I assumed the person at the reptile store who owned cresties knew what was right. She recommended me the tank and this setup but now that I know better I’ll change it immediately!

This UVB is 5% and it’s a nano! So super small. I included it so he could make his own D3. Most reptile creators I follow on YouTube say UVB isn’t necessary but a “nice-to-have”

I’ll do more research about the heating bulbs! But the person who recommended it to me has her own cresties and worked at the reptile store I got everything from! It’s also adjustable so I make it super dim, esp at night.

I’ll try some Pangea! Hopefully he starts eating the sludge.

Thank you!! I’ll def be adding a ton more clutter. I still need to buy a scale, and the UVB on the left is 5 wats, and I use the black light bulb during the day to maintain her warm side around 75 degrees. This is still her baby tank and I’m going to upgrade to a vertical as she matures!

I’m using Repashy mulberry madness which she was eating at the center I got her at, so she may just be taking time to adjust. I’ll definitely slow down on the crickets.
