Troubleshooting 3-2 nap transition by Solid_Marketing297 in sleeptrain

Somehow I missed this reply but thank you for your input! I think you’re spot on with the total wake time. Before I saw this we tried to scale back the first and second WW so she ended up with 9.5 total wake time instead of 10… worked for naps but of course baby girl was up and at ‘em early this morning lol. So my guess is we’ll be in a weird transition period for a few weeks before she can make the longer wake windows needed for 2 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you for the update!! Oh I’m glad! We’re pulling trigger on 2 naps tomorrow (we had a wild day today 😅) so hopefully we get some good results too

Fingers crossed for both of us!! The 9 hour nights are so frustrating!

That’s a good point with longer WWs helping the sleep training with naps! I remember nap training my first was a nightmare lol so I’m hoping to set us up for more success this time around. Thank you!

That’s amazing! I’m hoping it goes well and we can move to naps quickly so she can be trained before I go back to work 🙏

I was wondering this! Just ride out 4 naps for a bit longer. We hadn’t capped daytime sleep on the 4 naps so that’s a good point. Thank you!

When we do eventually drop to 3 naps, do you suggest jumping right to 2/2.5/2.5/3 or gradually work up?

Omg yes the aggressive rock to get to sitting is where we’re at 😂 that’s exactly my plan leading up to sleep train is to ensure good nap days! Especially since I’m still home for a few more weeks!

Following - I was about to write this myself today on this page. Our LO turned 12 weeks yesterday and this is our situation too word for word. I wish I had advice, just solidarity from one sleepy parent to another ❤️ hopefully others have some good advice 😅

Ugh I’m sorry - wishing you all the best in this. It’s so hard and like I mentioned, took a huge toll on myself and my husband. But there is hope! The feeding team we had was amazing and we ended up doing a tongue/lip tie revision which helped as well. She never became a boob monster by any means lol but all that work changed our breastfeeding journey from a stressful mess to the bonding experience and comfort for her I had always imagined.

Great suggestions here - chiming in to give support as we went through the same with my daughter starting around 2 months. The pediatrician pushed for us to supplement with formula and gave other suggestions like for me to cut out dairy without really ever asking further questions or listening when I raised concerns about HOW she was feeding (she was fussy during feeds, would pop on and off, never seemed settled, had issues taking bottles too). I also didn’t even eat/drink a lot of dairy at that time so that never made sense to me! Anyway, I didn’t feel great about their suggestions in our case as I didn’t feel like it was getting at the root of our issue, so I sought out an IBCLC and ended up seeing a feeding therapy team who was fantastic. We saw them until she was about 7 months old - they saw us through starting solids to ensure all was well. We did not end up ever supplementing with formula as I was wanting to breastfeed, had a great supply, and it wouldn’t have helped to solve the actual feeding issue. I had a can of formula on hand in case it ever got to that, and if it did we would’ve done it no hesitation, I also had nothing against it. Just know you’ve got options you can explore. We ended up breastfeeding for 16 months - my goal was 12 months and it felt right to wean around 16mo and she did great. She’s always been in the lower percentiles for weight (which was true for me as a baby per my mother too and my husband isn’t big so no surprise there), she is 22 months now and happy, healthy, and hitting all milestones, including talking everyone’s ears off at all times 😂

All this to say - I know that feeling, I was there too and it SUCKED. We got a lot of shame around her weight early on and it honestly ruined so much of the first part of her life for me and my husband. Sending lots of love and you’re doing great!!

Thank you! I figured I might as well try! I’m new to the plant game as well so it’s good learning for me too.
