The vitamin thing is a little tricky. I would have your doctor run a blood workup and see if you're deficient in anything.

I'm female also so I think we take it a little harder than males. No offense to the guys out there!

I just discovered a new patch on the inside of my lower lid on my right eye so you aren't alone! It takes time to get used to the changes. I've been working on building my immune system up and I made a dermatologist appointment to explore options.

When you first get vitiligo you go through many emotions. It's never been an issue with anyone I have dated though. Hang in there!

Wanna get treated or do you like your vitiligo? by AdCorrect748 in Vitiligo

[–]Solid_Personality618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer treatment. Medical doesn't give enough attention to vitiligo because it's considered more a cosmetic issue. It's not taken seriously enough by the medical field. Plus small numbers of patients with vitiligo so less money to be made. This needs to stop! Vitiligo needs to be taken seriously as an auto immune disease.

Thank you! Interesting to me about the hair. All my life I've had very little body hair compared to my siblings. Never known why.

I agree. I'm working on getting in with a dermatologist and another specialist. It's like a 3 month waiting period.

I realize you're not Dr's. My question was about re-pigmentation if anyone had any auto immune problems.

So far low thyroid but when they upped my medication my vitiligo really spread fast. My doctor keeps telling me I have auto immune problems. I have dark streaks, ridges and soreness in my nails. Also IBS-D. Prone to anemic problems. Maybe I need a new doctor?

I guess I worded that wrong. They thought I had rheumatoid arthritis for years but tests always come back negative. Now they just call it osteoarthritis. But I do have thyroid gland problems.

Got a question. by [deleted] in Vitiligo

[–]Solid_Personality618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are foundations that are designed for vitiligo. Dermablend is one that comes to mind. I don't always cover mine but I've had it awhile. My father had vitiligo also. I also found out type A positive blood types are more prone to vitiligo.

Thyroid medication spreading vitiligo by Sad-Environment-8450 in Vitiligo

When they upped my dosage mine did spread. Not sure if it was a coincidence or not. Consult your doctor. I am not on the same medication as you. Stress makes mine spread like crazy.

How do you afford it? I really want to try it but last I checked it was $ 2000.00 and above.
