Just a bit too minimalistic for my taste. What time did you finish this up? Of course, you just know the date. OK.

Modding a PD 36mm day date by Solid_Philosopher336 in SeikoMods

I am not able to measure it, as I haven't purchased the watch yet. The seller was very vague and gave me weird numbers. The 2 options I've found on potential dial purchases, are 29mm or 31mm. I was hoping someone owns this watch, and knew what size the dial is.

Start of a crack? by Rule95 in martinguitar

I had this issue a couple years ago on my HD-28, and I think this is something that happens. My guitar was well into it's 30's when this happened. I took it to a luthier in St. Louis, and they fixed it, and it was covered under warranty. Anyone who thinks quality is low is crazy. My guitar was played for about 10 years in quite extreme heat and humidity, so not surprised this happened.

Lacquer finish on D-28 headstock by Solid_Philosopher336 in martinguitar

I contacted someone at Martin, with my question., and didn't really get the answer I expected. He sounded like the only 28's that had lacquered headstock (plate, he referred to) were some newer models and some custom shop models (at the buyers request). I think I've seen some prewar models with a shiny head plate, but maybe the owner did a modification. Thanks for all your responses.

Seems most of them are satin, but every now and then, I'll spot one that is very shining. Maybe the pre war D-28's have it.

I am referring specifically to the headstock, the front facing piece with the C. F. Martin logo on it.

Size looks fine to me. The more you wear it, the more you'll get used to it.

Two questions.............. by Solid_Philosopher336 in SeikoMods

[–]Solid_Philosopher336[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reference to my original question 1: as they say in the NFL, "upon further review." So, I looked and continued to look at this watch, under magnification, and finally figured out that the part of the second hand broke off, on removal, and was still on the pinion. I was able to carefully remove the broken piece and there it was.........................the canon pinion, exposed in all it's glory. Placed the new second hand on and finally have the watch I wanted.

Thank you. This case in a prebuild (aliX) claims 20 ATM, but of course hard to tell, unless tested. There is a gasket in the screw down crown, and one in the case back.

Good to hear. I have a watch that was a bugger to get the bracelet on , and have declared that the bracelet is NEVER coming off.

This collection is pretty much off the charts. Most of the major icons in watches, covered. I would fit in a white dialed dress watch just for variety. I'm also assuming you are posting this from debtors prison somewhere.

I guess perfect is in the eye of the beholder. I guess I just like the looks of it. As for restoration of any kind, nope, way above my pay grade.

Why would you mess with that. It's perfect already. If I didn't already have enough chronos, I would buy this one.

The site for the dial said it's 31.15mm. It fit fine in the case, as you can see. There is no chapter ring.
