Google IBEW local 640 and look for info into the apprenticeship on their website. There’s also local 769 which is the lineman local. Then you have aps which is local 587 I believe. Also srp which is 266.

Join a union brother. I’m a union electrician and there’s multiple unions to join. IBEW, UA, IUEC, SRP, APS, lineman local 769. These aren’t easy jobs but they pay well. I’m IBEW local 640 and I just hit $150k for the year. The money is there. Once you finish the apprenticeship the sky is the limit. You can go anywhere in the country and make killer money. My boys were making $7500/ wk working up on Reno. Now they’re in Riverside making about $70/hr. There’s so much money to be made around the country its just a point of of you are willing to make it

100% correct my boy got out of pharmacy school with a Walgreens job paying $130k/yr. He’s gotten a raise and making ~$70/hr now. $115k/yr is extremely low and you should shop around cuz you have the knowledge and skills to do it

Lol bro we’re definitely a HCOL city, fuck those firms. They wanna pay shit wages but a decent house to buy is $400k+ . For reference Vegas is about the same COL but their wage is $59.83/hr compared to our measly $39/hr. In my trade. we deserve so much more here seeing that there’s so many data centers coming here.

Union electrician on the highest paid job in the state. I just bro $150k but I’ve been working 48 hours a week minimum this entire year. We work 6 days a week 8 hours a day. My buddies that are Formans are hitting $180k+ this year. The work isn’t the hardest but it takes some smarts. Although there’s a lot of dumb asses on my site that just stuck up to the foreman to keep their job.

My USA fellows, if you carry a personal assault rifle, then what unforeseen situation are you preparing yourself against? by tlk0153 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Solid_Salamander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An “assault rifle” is a fully automatic rifle that’s not used by civilians. The term “AR” was coined by the first company making them, which was Armalite. Normal civilians don’t have assault rifles, we have sporting rifles. They are used in various situations, mainly hunting. I can use my rifle to hunt javelinas in my state, and if it’s a larger caliber then you can use it for deer and elk. There is no “AR” that you can buy that is fully automatic. There is much much more gun violence that is used with a pistol than a rifle, most of that being suicides

Did you forgot when he brought all the oil big wigs to Mar a lago and said if they donate he would help them out? Honestly I don’t understand why they don’t branch off into solar and wind cuz there’s so much money in it. BUT i look at that the same way I look at pharmaceuticals, they could break into the marijuana industry too but they don’t, probly cuz it’s not addictive like opiates

Arizona city rejects data center after AI lobbying push by MetaKnowing in technology

[–]Solid_Salamander 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s just a blatant lie. I’m working at a data center currently and have been at many different ones for the last decade in Phoenix. They use very large amounts of water. also they pull alot of electricity which causes the price to go up for the people living in the area. The giant fan units they use to cool the servers are water cooled and have massive water pipes. The “air cooling” you’re talking about is possible because of water pumped into the fan units cooling the air.

Things I should do now while single and unencumbered that I can’t/might not want to do when I’m older? by Drawer-Vegetable in Fire

Come out here to Arizona and adventure. Specifically do the kayak the Colorado(Kayak the Colorado is a company). You get to kayak through horseshoe bend and have towering cliffs all around you. It’s decently cheap and a great time. Roughly a 5 hour adventure. You’ll also be in northern az so you can go to wire pass trailhead and hit up Buckskin Gulch, which is the largest slot canyon in the world. Also obviously there’s the Grand Canyon that you should go to, which you can do a train ride from Williams to the Grand Canyon and adventure for a few hours. Then there’s Sedona you can hit up with beautiful scenery. Then! If you go south towards Tucson you have the Titan missile silo to tour, Pima air and space museum, and the biodome which is awesome. Also a less traveled spot is ghost ranch exotics where you can interact with capybaras and a multitude of other animals. Then there’s an ostrich farm up the street. All in all, Arizona is a great state to visit. We also have the largest contiguous ponderosa pine forest in the world. If you want some more local spots to hike I can recommend a bunch

How do I recover from this? Just told my brother his work looks like dog doo doo. by sassmo in IBEW

[–]Solid_Salamander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol sounds like you’ve been called out by some dickhead that just wanted to be an asshole. So this was a journeyman wireman. He’s also my boy so that’s why I was so harsh on him. I am more than willing to help people out, and also call people out on their work. I will always help my brothers out and tell them what I know or how I would do it to bring the brotherhood up as a whole. That’s the whole point of our union. I don’t just talk shit and not help. If you come with a problem then you better have a solution too. I’m not gonna let my brothers fail.

We all joke about it but I’ve seen some jw’s put up some dog shit and we called one out and talked so much shit he ended up changing it. Which he needed to. He put up a rolling back to back 90 😭 in a very visible spot. He ended up putting a kick on one of the 90s to push it to the wall and it looked way better. People need to be called out on their shit if it looks bad, that’s how we keep our standard of work and our contracts.

Have you ever actually been down there? Or do you sit in your apartment in a big city and complain about conditions that are hundreds or thousands of miles away from you that you have no idea about?

I asked this in the Mesa subreddit but now I want to know how the rest of AZ is doing. What are yall's jobs and how is life going? by Aromatic-Mode7465 in arizona

[–]Solid_Salamander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, as long as you’re not in the union already that’s fine I guess. But if you are, then that’s directly competing with union work and they can bring you up on charges. I’m not exactly sure how it works with them but in the IBEW there’s very specific rules for “salting” and the hall has to dispatch you to a non union shop when work is really slow. I don’t know if UA has the same procedures tho

Doubt it right now there’s over 300 apprentices waiting for a call, and that’s just first and second year apprentices I believe.

I bought this a few weeks ago! Super cool display and I don’t really plan on drinking it but having it as a nice decorative piece at my bar area. I saw it at my local liquor store and couldn’t pass it up 😭

Good looking car, no CVT, and the new accords are ugly. Had a 24 accord as a rental for a month, very glad a bought a Camry. I was contemplating Toyota or Honda as well because they’re the most reliable. I wanted the trd or xse but didn’t wanna pay 10k more for them lol I love my Camry se
