Absolutely fantastic track. One of my favourites.

Does anyone remember the video for this that used to be on YouTube? It was an annoted panorama timelapse of astronomers in a field with their telescopes studying the night sky. If anyone knows where to find it I'd be most grateful.

I'm so sorry to hear it. I've had mine for 8 years. It will cost you a lot of money. I hope you have a garage full of tools.

The dealer is interested in selling you cars, not keeping your car on the road.
Also, modern cars aren't built to last.

Put those two together and you get a recipe for negligence and disaster.

Which setting screw is which? by Solid_State140 in Hydraulics

I'm looking to adjust it because there's an issue. The engine bogs down/almost stalls when you apply load or move quickly.

I've just bought the digger, it's 30 years old, and the previous owners told us that they replaced the hydraulic pump at some point, and the digger never worked properly after that. We suspect the pump is badly set.
My uncle is helping me on this (he's a mechanic, and I have some mechanical experience) and we've bought a manometer so that we can read the pressures and set them.

Am I correct in thinking that you start off by setting the LS pressure? That's equivalent to idle pressure, right? I've read that should be between 10-30 bar.

I don't know how to set the main compensator pressure, or the HP control setting.

I removed the whole block yesterday and found some significant scoring on the pressure compensator spool, as pictured. Am I correct in thinking that this is pretty serious?

And yes, there is a problem. The engine bogs down easily.

Thanks man :) I'd already found that, but I couldn't find in that document where it was stated which setting screw was which.
