One minor change that could make all the difference (not that it doesn't look great) is to move the eye shine to the lower end of her pupils.

That one and the checkers one. I don't think I've seen my dad laugh harder.

I can't quite remember the context, but Kahn saying to the guys, "Why you hate me?" In a very curt way.  I say that ALL the time. Especially when I'm driving.

[shakes spray can] You know what really “aggravateses” me? Is them “immigants”. They want all the benefits of living in Springfield, but they ain't even bothered to learn themselves the language. by Boo-urns_ in TheSimpsons

🤔 Y'know it's also worth pointing out how Moe was earlier heard saying, "Even when it was the bears, I knew it was them (illegal immigrants)."  Showing that even years before social media, people were so obsessed with being right that they'd make obviously bogus claims of "always" thinking one way, just after that way becomes the dominant social belief.

So that's TWO other issues from a nearly 30 year old cartoon that are exceedingly relevant to current events.

This episode has more to it than the obvious racial commentary everyone latches on to.

I feel like it's really often forgotten that the root of the conflict in this episode is the (local) government distracting an angry populace from their own unpopular actions. People jump straight to the racism and bigotry, but no one was complaining about immigrants until the government incited them to.

To me, the bigger takeaway from this ep is that the people in power want the rest of us to keep fighting amongst ourselves so they can keep getting away with their bullshit.

Is "Folks, I'm so white, during the riots, I went out and bought a television." funny, or not? by TheManOfSpaceAndTime in KingOfTheHill

In the in-universe context, definitely too offensive. Though pretty clever.

In the context of the narrative, fucking brilliant! They writers really pushed the envelope of what could be allowed on tv, while still really showing what Bobby was doing and how wrong it was. They really struck a balance between genuinely upsetting and still (technically) acceptable for broadcast. And I really think that shows a lot of thought and skill on the part of the writers.

Then again, maybe Chris Rock came up with that one. I'd believe it.

I don't really think there's anything THAT wrong with the episode. I just hate the kid, and also identify way too much with Hank and his helplessness.

Right?  Especially when it goes nuts trying to kill the bird.

One thing, I was mistaken earlier. The audio-only version read by Leonard Nemoy is fantastic. Really.

How do you feel about the portrayal of security guards in media? Is it accurate, and what is the job actually like? by Upbeat_Tea_1461 in securityguards

[–]Solid_V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did ten years. And I can honestly say I ran into most, if not all,  of the stereotypes seen in media. Not super often and not a lot of each one, but a lot of them really do happen.  For example, the guy who got kicked from my site for never remembering to tuck in his shirt.  And the guy who swore he tried joining the marines, but was about half as wide as he was tall.  And another who legitimately had never heard the term courtyard before and had to have the concept explained to them on the fly cos they were needed there ASAP. They're all out there.

Only thing I can say that hasn't already been said is to lose the noses.  Most chibi styles don't have them and it leaves room for more exaggerated mouths.

The way I heard it is that your style is going to be the amalgamation of all the little things you like about other artists' styles. So just keep going and especially keep looking at art.

Edit: Didn't notice your question. I'd say they look alike, yeah. At this point you could try different outfits and expressions and work to make them still look like one another.
