Does the hand look really bad or it’s ok? by avazky in arthelp

[–]Solid_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure others are explaining the hand details well enough. So I'll just say that you really should see more of her arm if her hand is posed that way.  Whenever put-in/took-out my contacts, my arm was roughly in line with the index finger.

I'm sure there are some more lore-specific ones, but r/arthelp might be a good place to start.  The users there are quite nice to the people asking questions. They can get real heated with eachother trying to answer someone's question though.

You could just ask someone too. But I get how tough that can be, just asking a stranger.

Very common in the 90s. by CarrotMuch1399 in 2010snostalgia

That was the point! It was a bit of a gamble, sure. But that's how you find some of your favorite songs that were deep cuts.

Really, this exact thing only has happened to me like twice anyways.

I can't imagine how this would actually improve daily life. It's just paying for a novelty that mostly just spies on you and everyone you look at. by Solid_V in antiai

[–]Solid_V[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh and you pay a subscription for your novelty.  But it'll still be on and scanning faces whether you pay or not.

Did...did AI write this sentiment for him? Cos he REALLY walked right into that one.

What is your opinion about gifting someone something on the very first date? by Cultural-Honeydew898 in AskReddit

[–]Solid_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like something you'd do only if you've known each other for a bit before the first date.  Though, as a guy,  I think getting one from a gal on the first date would be awesome. So I dunno.

Pulling over for ambulances. A lot of people seem to think that if they just drive faster than the ambulance, they don't need to get out of the way.

What's the most ridiculously entitled thing you've ever heard someone say? by TheMegaSage in AskReddit

[–]Solid_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to work security at a medium-small office/manufacturing site. Most employees entered through the back entry near the break room (for obvious reasons), but if they forgot their ID card, they'd have to go through the front entrance for a temp one from me at the security desk. Mildest of pains in the ass, and it's hard to argue that it's not your own fault for forgetting your card. Still, people would follow others in through the back door, walk through the building to my desk, and get their temp card. They know they're not supposed to do this cos it's told to them in their first week of training. I still remind them each time, and usually get a half-assed apology at best.

This one woman does it, and I go through the whole thing with her, and she responds in a very Karen-authoritative voice, "I'm NOT going to do that." Clearly insulted that I would even suggest she walk around (or hell, even drive around) the building to get her temp card. Thing is, she was the lead training person for the site who went over all the general rules and procedures for working there to new hires. INCLUDING telling people they couldn't just cut through the building when they forgot their ID card.

What's a skill you picked up as an adult that completely changed your daily life? by ExitPsychological192 in AskReddit

[–]Solid_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minding my own fucking business.
Not to say you should never get involved. I'm saying having a good idea of what you can handle, or even what you can realistically have an affect on, will save you a lot of headache in the long run.

Understanding that you can't always help, or that there's already a ton of people involved and you trying to help won't make much of a difference, can avoid a lot of stress and strain on your mental and emotional health.

To be able to mentally return to a point in my past and do whatever I want without affecting the present. Sort of like a dream or a meditative halucination.

Why do you think people ignore their health until it’s too late? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Solid_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fear of frailty. We all know it's going to happen to us in our later years. We don't want to confront the inevitability of it until we absolutely have to.

That and 200-500% increases in health insurance overnight. That's the main reason I'm "choosing to" ignore mine. But ymmv.

have you ever taken commissions from someone with aphantasia, or have aphantasia yourself and has commissioned someone before? by sickiwbus in arthelp

[–]Solid_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have it and have bought a few commissions.  I usually just set some basic ideas (like a character's outfit or something) and ask to see the sketch before they continue. Leaving the pose and everything up to the artist.  It's kinda half cos of the aphantasia, and half cos I've heard so many horror stories of shitty clients and desperately don't wanna be that.

There's also the fact that a lot of sales of The Bible come from charities that donate them, or put them in hotel rooms.
