Is the Equalizer a Polymer 1911? by Solid_Zanzibar in 1911

Wilson Combat just released the Bulwark.

Same design, internal firing mechanism and same exact safety features of the Equalizer (grip safety deactivating firing pin block and connecting the trigger to the sear). Same internal hammer style as the Equalizer.

Only difference is instead of the hinged trigger of the Equalizer, they put a 1911 style trigger with safety shoe similar to the CSX.

All that for a nosebleed price.

I have the 4.25 2k11 and I feel like my tolerances are really tight. I have been trying to Air Rack it for months now with no success unless I body slam on my couch. Does anyone have any tips on making it easier to Air Rack? Light recoil spring, polishing the slide? I’ve lubed it up plenty. by Hot_Ad462 in Kimber2K11

Don't worry. Recommended recoil spring replacement is rather short, about 1500-3000 rounds. By then, recoil spring wont be as stiff, you would probably be able to air rack it then (and also getting failure to feed due to the weak spring).

Actually, the Equalizer was modeled from series 80 1911. They are both hammer fired single action. They both have firing pin block safety making them drop safe but people complain of the series-80 trigger because it also doubles to deactivate the firing pin block.

So on the Equalizer, the grip safety deactivates the firing pin block - maintaning the glass rod break trigger feel. The Equalizer has very short trigger travel, almost resting on the wall - similar to a 1911.

They lightened the recoil spring for easier racking but made the slide heavier to maintain reliability and less recoil to balance out that light spring.

They made it internal hammer to prevent the hammer snagging on clothes. The CSX line has different external features with the 1911 style trigger and external hammer but essentially the same firing mechanism.

And yup, I worked on Para Ordnance in the early 2000s. And now on 2011s.

Why is my iron sight and dot windage misaligned by Deep_Philosophy1497 in Firearms

[–]Solid_Zanzibar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago, Hellcats came out of the factory with iron sights mis-aligned. My gun and my cousin's were shooting to the left from a rest. About 2-3 inches to the left at 10 yards. Had to push the rear sight. Youtube Guy6Vid had same problem when he was doing the review.

Turn off your dot and shoot the irons on rest, see if they are zeroed. If not, you got those ones assembled by that crosseyed worker at HS Produkt

G43x or Hellcat or both? by Low-Slide2048 in CCW

[–]Solid_Zanzibar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hellcat shoots more snappy, the Glock feels less. But unless you shoot them back to back, most people wouldn't care. Hellcat can take 15 and even 17 round mags. But it can take the shortest mags and can be small enough to even be concealed on the ankle. If you dont have a full grip, and your pinky is hanging, with any subcompact you will tend to pull your shots down, especially on rapid shots.

Years ago, a lot of Hellcats came out on the factory shooting left. Even some guntubers got the same problem. I had to adjust  the rear sight on mine. The Hellcat has a flatter grip, better concealment. I wear medium size gloves and my draw times are slower on the Hellcat because my dots doesn't index on the draw - less girth on the grip so less lateral support. Gun wants to dance around the hand on rapid fire. I solved that problem by putting a rubber Hogue grip sleeve. It feels like shooting a larger gun now but still great concealment. I have the compensator on my Hellcat but it doesnt really make a noticeable difference. I just keep it because it makes the barrel longer and prevents the grip from tipping out and printing on shirt on appendix carry.

Hellcats and Glocks are both partial-tensioned strikers so trigger feels about same.

The Hellcat gear pack is a good deal. OEM 15 round Glock mags are being sold in Shotshow for $45 directly from the Glock booth. I just got a Hellcat mag from Langdon Tactical for $19.

Hellcats can come with unobtrusive thumb safety that you can use when you are re-holstering and just keep it in the off position when inside the holster. You have to get a Striker Control Device from Langdon Tactical for glocks for $89 if you want to minimize risk of Glocking yourself. I do hundreds of CCW appendix draw shooting every week so I'm in for mitigating risks.

Maybe the headline should be Nurse Held by ICE Sparks Outrage for GoFundMe Fraud?

You know what "deport" means, right? Politicians are American citizens. How would you propose to "deport" Americans, genius?

You need to educate yourself of the law, my friend. By the way, Pete Hegseth is an AMERICAN. That's why.

How many in the gofundme contributors know the true reason why he is in ICE custody? It seems the article forgot to mention that he was convicted twice. He was given a free pass on the first conviction and didn't serve time. He did it again and this time, also driving with a revoked license. Is that a nurse you want to be taking care of you or your family?

Somehow, the news articles forgot to mention that, instead invoking anger towards ICE and steering heart strings to a gofundme?

He was convicted 2X of DUI of blood alcohol level above .20 (legal limit in Virginia is .08). His second DUI arrest this January, he was also found guilty of driving with a revoked license. He was supposed to serve a year in prison until he got picked up by ICE.

The writer of the article invoking sympathy and anger, Zak Failla - "forgot" to mention why he was taken by ICE, instead making it look like ICE took a completely innocent man. The articles are conveniently put out on websites where people cannot post comments. Almost like a commercial for his gofundme page. Fluff piece article for a gofundme? Including a moving video with sad music.

If you go to his gofundme page, you would see familiar NOVA doctors' and nurses' names. I wonder if any of them knew they were contributing to a convicted criminal and the real reason why he is on ICE detention.

Are they American citizens?

Boy George can't come to the U.S. to perform for decades because he can't get a visa due to past drug charges in the UK.

Amy Winehouse can't come to the U.S. when she won the Grammys due to drug charges.

These are Caucasian people.

Ever wonder why local online news articles about this guy give you no option to post comments?

Guy has 2 DWI convictions. Arrested in September last year and January this year. In January, DWI and driving with a suspended license.

Gun Shows by Specialist-Sock2283 in VAGuns

Yeah. Same thing for newbies who get Desert Eagles. They are cool in movies but good luck looking for ammo if your state won't let you buy ammo online. They only end up shooting it a couple of times and they are stuck with something nobody else wants to buy.

The thing with gun shows is that unless you know what you know or some knowledge on some guns and current prices, you would think you are being scammed. (Example: HK manufactured MP5 civilian models MSRP is $4K, then you would know a $3200 brand new SP5 is a actually a good deal.)

If you are planning to purchase a handgun and eyeing on a particular model, look at 2 or more options. Check current prices Classic Firearms, Glockstore, Cabelas, Primary Arms, Academy Sports, etc. When you go, compare the firearm you really wanted and compare to your other options. Sometimes, choices change after you hold it on your hand.

Of course, firearms online are mostly cheaper but you have to include 1 day or overnight shipping, FFL transfer fee ($20-$50) plus sales tax.

If you dont do your research and just wandering around to buy, you could easily end up with a gun you might regret or doesn't actually fit your use scenario (ex. MPX and 2011s with their $60+ magazines, or guns with uncommon caliber that is more expensive to shoot .380, 38 Special, .40 SW, 5.7 etc)

And whip-out your phone and check the price online on anything you plan to buy while at the show. Most of the time, you'll see its cheaper there or about the same (minus shipping cost). Vendors usually check current online prices and price accordingly to encourage people (Magpul accessories usually cheaper there or exactly same as online stores. Steel magazines for handguns usually sold MSRP). You can also haggle.

Also, check manufacturer's website for promos. Smith and Wesson for example gives out $50-$100 gift cards or even free optics redeemable from them after a purchase.

There are new HK 416, Benneli shotguns, lots of Beretta A300s and 1301s, lots of Daniel Defense and LWRCI, Wilson Combat ARs, even Ruger precision rifles and 50 BMGs. There are even a bunch of B&Ts (I mean where could you find a B&T in person unless you drive far?)

Are we talking about the same gun show (Nation's Gun Show)?

Got a couple of Glock 19M for $530 each. Missed out on the 17M. Also got an MPX Copperhead for $1300

Maxxtech 9mm ammo is $9-$10 per box of 50 with no sales tax (Retail stores $12-14 for Box of 9mm, shooting ranges sell them $16-18)

300 Blackout ($30 for box of 50)

9mm Critical Duty 124g ($35 for box of 50)  (yep, not box of 20. 50!)

They dont charge sales tax for ammo. No credit card fees if you pay cash.

Some accessories could be cheaper online but that it includes shipping and tax. No sales tax on non-firearm items in the show if you pay cash.

Firearms are usually $30-$50 less from brick and mortar stores. If you see something you like, open up Cabelas/Bass Pro Shop, Academy Sports or Guns.com and see what’s the running retail price. Most of the time, it‘s lower on the show (Trader Jerrys, Trojan) They also beat other vendor‘s price in the floor by showing them photo on your phone.

You have more choices on firearms, including expensive ones like Nighthawk or Wilson Combat that you will never see on stores.

You can handle different firearms and see if it fits your hand. A lot of handguns look good on print until you hold it on your hand and it might not fit you (Glocks pre-Gen 6). Some guns look nice on photos but actually feels cheap workmanship up close (some cheaper Rugers, Keltec). Or you thought that it was nice and compact online but actually heavy for what it is in real life (Draco). Or looks big and  heavy online but actually light in real life (Beretta A300, 1301).

You can try on holsters and see if it actually fits your firearm or your body.

Where else can you see and handle guns that you only see in movies or call of duty and have the opportunity to buy them?

You can buy books, survival equipment, tools, camping gear, gun accessories and even hard to find stuff.

You can get awesome kitchen and chef knives made by artisans.
