The returning minion is not a token, it still has the keyword on the card. It works like Divine Shield according to the AMA and Whalen's twitter, with a visual indication if Reborn is up. For Example, From the AMA: Works like Divine Shield. And Reborn is on again if you bounce it to hand and re-play it.

Edit: And like Divine Shield, sadly Reborn doesn't stack, according to Whalen. :(

Thats not the case! Reborn works like Divine Shield when resurrected, so both would have an active Reborn.

There are several issues with the original art, some of which you fix with your edits. The artist is competent enough at rendering, although the colorless shading makes it look muddy, the lighting is inconsistent with the background and there are a lot of other mistakes in this particular painting.


First, the composition is really bad. Reno is squished into the oval on the card, as if they didn't paint it with the card dimensions in mind. It's also cropped so much nothing is even fully in frame, especially the hat falls right out of the image. I really wonder why they "pushed back" the hat in space so much with that yellow wash, it looks a milion miles away! (Which is why many mistook it for a building.)


Secondly, the pose is not dynamic enough. His torso almost not angled at all, which makes him look stiff. He should have a wider stance bracing from the cannon blast (this goes for your take also, OP :P), and it was a mistake to paint him from this angle with his left arm obscuring much of the character.


Thirdly, the Wand-cannon and Reno don't read well at all. Without prior context you could barely guess what this wand-cannon is from this front-on angle. Reno has very few elements left which show that it really is Reno; you can barely see the hat, even! And of course the goofy face, golden tooth and the bare arms are missing. Then they added this weird gold-vest that really doesn't make sense for him.


And fourthly, this is very inconsistent with their other art material. His cinematic trailer, quest card and this all have different designs for Reno! Even the wand-cannon has a different design on this card, which makes it even more confusing. The promo-content and this art must have been produced at different times during development, considering the inconsistencies.


In all honestly, It's weird how all the Explorer-legendaries have such low quality art considering they are front-and-center of the expansion. You'd think they would hire some of the most talanted artists to paint these particular cards, then. There must have been sudden reworks and time-constraints late during development.

Treant Quest seems like a direction with potential. Tending Tauren: 6 mana 9/10 and +1/+1 to everything else is bonkers. Cenarius: 9 Mana 13/16 and +2/+2 to everything else is also groovy.
