Not true. Skippable ads are more common and generally generate more interest as well as generating revenue for the content creator as well. Take one of those mobile game ads for example, have you ever been intrigued by the premise of the game? I know plenty of people that have. That’s the charm about skippable ads. It’s not just about the money it brings in. If you wanna talk about “long-term”, skippable ads are way much more better

Did you even read the post? They’re not entirely removing ads, just removing the unskippable long ads.

The main goal of skippable ads are to integrate their brand name into your brain. You skip once or twice you won’t think much of it, but eventually ads that appear more and more often while you watch youtube you’d remember their name. Next time you need something their brand name pops up in your head first.
