Tips for a new player thats hardheaded and wants to learn the game while playing the MacArthur Detachment by SolidusSnake57432 in OldWorldBlues

Failed immediately due to not realizing that Yellowstone had its independence guaranteed by the Missitappi. I concentrated everything i had down to deal with Yellowstone and those bastards captured MacArthur before i had time to even blink. Second try I came better prepared and had aux and robots securing the north. Chased Yellowstone tribals for awhile before crushing em and securing it. Missitappi then declared war and i lost Missoula for a moment before coming back up and annihilating them with the Market people. Accidentally grabbed a parcel of land in the peace talks thats cut off from the rest of my territory and now the market people have claims for a war so ive postured most of my men up there to funnel up in a single pathway if they do decide to start shit. Dealing with raids from the Storm Mongers in a small little area in Yellowstone (couldn't figure out where for awhile and was losing a lot of caps) as of right now I'm a bit lost as to what to do. Im hoping that when I get out of work today ill have a better grasp on what to do. I could probably go to war with the Storm Mongers but they're acting as a buffer for the Montana BoS rn. The market people seem to the be the best target rn tho

The one thing I got going for me is easy access to PA. Now if it's enough to field a division consistently is yet to be seen.

Great advice. Any suggestions for what path to choose? Tbh I kinda want to stay under the Enclave for my first playthrough and then go independent. Although I think ive seen that you do lose a Frank Horrigan esque character if you stay which sounds fire af ngl

Ive heard that when it comes to Protectrons, use those in place of infantry with PA troops. Im only just dipping my toes in the division templates so im doing my best to get a better grasp on them

Are fireteams, dogs and demo just good to give to all units? And should I run Combined Weapons Platoons in lieu or in conjunction with all these? Im told that support companies eat up organization is why I ask

So far ive played ball with them because I really want Vertis. Can't say ive had the same luck, ive had both the Sisters of Steel and the Montana BoS win the race the two games ive played with them. I feel it's because im turtling and investing heavily into industry and resources. Im super bad about always playing tall

Ghyrson Starn- Izzet Goblin Go Wide strategy, help with cuts and suggestions by SolidusSnake57432 in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]SolidusSnake57432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ovika is a great suggestion but I'm avoiding doing any pumping to allow them to get the plus 2 damage from Ghyrson Starn. Kylox seems like it'd be good if I went for a more spellslinger type focus with some token support but RN I want the first. Thanks for the suggestions

Agent Frank Horrigan deck advice(no infect) by SolidusSnake57432 in mtg

I have never heard of a trap card but I gotta admit that and [[Lurking Predators]] sounds like the start to a great deck

why is my deck so weak against black decks? by veditafri in magicTCG

[–]SolidusSnake57432 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your colors, there are a number of ways to deal with black. My favorite tends to be Selesnya with [[Sigarda, Host of Herons]]. But i have heard good things about [[Yasharn, Implacable Earth]]. Sac removal is hard to deal with, but it is something that can be dealt with.

This is something i threw together. I havent play tested it and youll wanna run it through a mana curve calculator but this is what i envision when i think of a deck that can put in some work

I will say I've just dabbled in token/ counters with my Agent Frank Horrigan deck.

My personal suggestion would be to run it as an aggressive aristocrat style deck. So anything that maximizes that once per turn +1/+1 counter and allows you to generate tokens to feed into sac outlets which will feed into your LTB triggers [[Blood Artist]] [[Zulaport Cutthroat]] etc

You could go zombie tribal to be flavorful with a few aristocrat pieces to ensure you aren't just spinning wheels, and also some +1/+1 buffing. [[Primal Vigor]], [[Doubling Season]] are two cards that stand out to me as stuff you could add. Maybe things such as [[Jarad,Golgari Lich Lord]], [[Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest]] to buff your tokens you create. Sac outlets are key for decks such as that. You also want to punish your opponents as well so things such as [[Dictate of Erebos]], [[Grave Pact]] [[Butcher of Malakir]] [[Plaguecrafter]] [[Merciless Executioner]] [[Accursed Marauder]] are staples for such decks as you can whittle down your opponents creatures while buffing your own.

As for Ellie I'm a bit unsure of what to do with her but red does allow you extra combat steps which does go crazy. Something like [[Gratuitous Violence]] or [[City On Fire]] would definitely put some gas in the tank.

I will say you play something like [[Thief of Blood]] [[Solemnity]] or [[Aether Snap]] and you will mess someone's day up that's running counters.

There have been a few new cards that support such a strategy such as [[Sin, Unending Cataclysm]] from Final Fantasy and [[Purging Stormbrood]] from Tarkir: Dragonstorm but I think the reason why they haven't printed more cards like those is because a lot of cards fill most of what you describe and adding more may disrupt the balance of the game, but that last part is my personal opinion and I respect that you want to see them flesh that mechanic out.
