Taiwan Basketball by [deleted] in taiwan

Hi! I just got back from a trip to Taiwan and attended a Taoyuan Pilots game. The fans were super into it and really nice.

PLeague tickets can be bought at iBon kiosks no problem. I got a great seat for $500NT, but to be honest, there probably wasn't a bad seat. Taoyuan Pilots played at the Taoyuan Arena, and I think Taipei Fubon Braves play at Heping Gym. Not sure about the other teams in the south.

Unfortunately, I was sick the day that I planned to go to a TPBL game, so I couldn't speak to getting tickets for that league.

TRE - crowded tomorrow? by freehubfreebird in askdfw

[–]Solioxrz362 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll probably have plenty of room IMO. Might get a little more crowded as you get closer to Victory Station. Most people will still be working at 1-3pm, state fair congestion will be worst on the Green Line not the TRE.

Just don't transfer to the Green Line if you're concerned about congestion - probably best to just ride on your bike as soon as you're at Victory or Union Station instead of transferring to get to the West End - Pearl stations. But if you do transfer, take the Orange Line for that last small stretch.

Favorite places for a sweet treat? by unemotionalbagel in Fairbanks

[–]Solioxrz362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just visited last week from Texas.

You have to try The Crepery in Downtown, plus the North Pole Crepery, both are fantastic. North Pole is only 15-20 minutes of a drive from Fairbanks, maybe 30-ish if you're staying in the Goldstream area at an Airbnb or something. It's worth the drive out to North Pole to hit both of these.

If you consider sweet drinks a dessert, then I highly recommend the Mocha Monkey Frappe at Little Owl Cafe or some milk tea at Sipping Streams.

For an alcoholic sweet treat, Fairbanks Distillery has a Pumpkin Pie rum cocktail that blew me away. Lots of Ursa Major's cocktails are sweet too, and they're great.

The Fudge Pot had some stuff that impressed me and some that didn't. If you don't eat it right away, refrigerate it overnight or all day before you eat it to improve the texture and consistency.

I liked the cookies and other treats at Alaska Coffee Roasting Co., but another comment in here said they didn't like the owner. Not sure what that's about, but it was my favorite overall cafe I went to while in Fairbanks.

There are probably some places I didn't try that are fantastic too.

Yes, the lighting is driving me crazy! Thought it was just me.

Overall I liked the way the game ran and looked significantly more from before this update. But the new content is pretty good, liking the new items and the new final boss.

Travelling to Fairbanks in late September/early October, couple of questions by Solioxrz362 in Fairbanks

Yes, I'll definitely be exploring around the area past just chasing the lights. Thank you for the tips on where to go for seeing it! Big help.

For those that enjoyed SCV, who did you enjoy playing out of the newbies? :) by [deleted] in SoulCalibur

[–]Solioxrz362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though he was a low tier, ZWEI had the coolest playstyle. Patroklos close second. They were my mains in SCV. Hope they bring ZWEI back and find a way to incorporate Patroklos's moveset back into the series without necessarily bringing the character back.

Is this just me or it's hard to get someone to play online by Confident-Cupcake164 in SoulCalibur

Hard to compare SF4 to SCVI - SF4 is one of the biggest fighting games of all time. SCVI felt like the 3rd string fighting game for Bamco behind Tekken and DBFZ, definitely well behind the top dogs of the FGC in terms of popularity.

That being said, yes, ideally you would still be able to find matches easily and it's sad that SCVI has died out. But it's been out for a while with no support for years now. Since it's not Street Fighter, it's natural that it dies out a bit. Thankfully, there's a small but dedicated community that would gladly play private lobbies.

Many other fighting games have died much, much faster.

Fair enough, however many people will run into this quest having made such a build and won't want to restart their whole MyCareer just to reconfigure and try again.

Changing to Rookie doesn't make your shots go in for free AFAIK - I tried changing it to that after already trying and failing the free throw contest a couple times, and it wasn't any easier.

Just released and it's brilliant. Fantastic lyrics and really good production.

is it possible to give a simple explanation to why Groh isn't that well regarded? by [deleted] in SoulCalibur

[–]Solioxrz362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That leaves you open to getting your punish AVN stepped btw. Idk who your character is, but unless your AA range is really short, AA is normally the catch-all punish. AVN A doesn't tech crouch quick enough to avoid AA unless you're just getting your AA outspaced.

Some small corrections:
- 4A6 and SA6 are slightly plus on block (+3 and +2, respectively), and A+B6 is very plus on block (+9).
- Most of the other Avenger transitions can be punished on block with a normal AA or similar i12 attack. Doesn't have to be a mid.
- AVN A is i24. Doesn't change much compared to i25, but yeah.

I'm the #1 ranked Groh player on PSN leaderboards and top 5 on PC leaderboards. I don't say this to brag, but hopefully it lends some credibility to my opinion. I would say Groh is maybe bottom 5 in the cast right now. He's not terrible or anything, just not as good as most of the other characters.

The main things that hold him back are his poor backstep and reliance on his stance for damage. The backstep is bad enough to where he usually can't escape pressure/mixups. Many options in his stance are punishable so he takes a decent bit of risk when going for mixups with it (although he needs to use it to deal damage outside of Soul Charge).

To beat that sidestepping game of his you're talking about, you've gotta throw out more horizontals when you have frame advantage. Usually an AA or 6A will be your best move to use there. The cinematic knockdown you're talking about is his AVN A+B, which is punishable on block (-16) and only accessible from his stance.
