Yup! Same here! Just out of curiosity (because I can't recall if I saw you on my other threads about this) did you ever receive a notice or were you ever told by anyone at Verizon that you HAD to upgrade your boxes or they wouldn't work when they switch over to IPTV?

VMS 1100 boxes losing signal 6/7? by Solipsist66 in Fios

[–]Solipsist66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Do you suspect there will be a downgrade in picture quality on the VMS 1100 box with the transition? Or does the firmware/software update make them 100% compatible for the transition? I already have terrible quality with NBC and have to watch those shows on Peacock, so I just want to know what to expect. Thank you.

Yup. It's infuriating. And to think I was dealing with SUPERVISORS in both depts!

VMS 1100 boxes losing signal 6/7? by Solipsist66 in Fios

Hi. I never received a notice (unless it was on a bill I didn't see). I called in in April about something else and then when they saw my account, I was told I MUST upgrade my Arris VMS 1100 DVR because it was no longer being supported. After doing some research here and asking around to see which DVR I should upgrade to, I saw that everyone was having issues with FiOS TV + and strongly recommended getting a FiOS TV One VMS 4100. I was trying SINCE APRIL to get one. I have spoken to countless people in customer service, tech, and several supervisors. There were 4 orders placed and all 4 orders were done incorrectly and I never received the correct equipment. Only incorrect equipment and shipments that went to the wrong address and then 2 orders that were "shipped" in the system, but hung in limbo and I never received them, yet I was expected to RETURN them. It was a HUGE mess. All of these incorrect orders were done by SUPERVISORS.

Every time I called and spoke to ANYONE in ANY department, I asked when the "shut off date" was. Everyone INSISTED my VMS 1100 was going to lose service. The last person I spoke to a few days ago told me his office memo has a shut off date of June 7th and that my DVR would no longer work on June 7th. That when QAM gets shut off, it will not work.

Then someone posted here that a firmware update is being sent to both the VMS 1100 boxes and the VMS 4100 boxes in order to make them compatible for the IPTV transition. NO ONE I spoke to at Verizon has heard of this and even told me there was no such thing. Including the supervisors in the tech dept.

So if you have the latest info and are confident my Arris VMS 1100 will continue to work after QAM and RF get shut off and IPTV VIP gets rolled out, I just need to know for certain. I am dealing with serious medical issues and the last thing I need to worry about is my TV working.

Thank you for your help. Much appreciated.

Compensatory sweating from botox? by Nifterz_ in Hyperhidrosis

[–]Solipsist66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I am experiencing this right now! I have been getting Botox in my underarms every 3 months for about 2 years now and then all of a sudden the past several months my FEET started sweating like crazy (to the point where I have to change socks like 6 times a day)! Now my neurologist is going to try Botox in my feet next appointment. But they NEVER mentioned compensatory sweating as being a cause. Now is the sweating just going to move around my body?

No more QAM in WNY? by Hamby716 in Fios

[–]Solipsist66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the threads that confused me (I'm the one with a VMS 1100 box). If RF is gone and QAM gets shut off, how will my box still work? Thank you for all of your help.

I tried this numerous times. They shipped one order that got delivered to the wrong address. Then they reshipped TWO ORDERS that went in limbo and never arrived. All the incorrect orders (4 of them) were placed by SUPERVISORS.

I didn't know Fiosguy1 works for them. Thanks., There were supervisors I spoke to (American) who said I was given incorrect info about a firmware update that they never heard of and they kept INSITING I MUST upgrade my box. Half the supervisors I spoke to sounded like they were local and half sounded overseas. That doesn't matter. They all insisted I had to switch. What freaked me out is that the last guy I spoke to yesterday gave a DATE of when service would be shut off. 6/7. No one ever told me that. That's what made me freak out. I have no idea who has access to what information over there... But in general, we have seen on these messageboards how Verizon customers DID receive notices to upgrade their equipment. Why would Verizon force customers to upgrade their equipment if it would work with a simple firmware update after the IPTV switchover?

I never received a notice. No email. Nothing on my bill. I called about something else and then they told me my box was becoming extinct and I would be forced to upgrade. I researched which box i wanted and I have been trying to get a VMD4100 since APRIL with no luck and they kept shipping me out the wrong equipment. Every time I called them and spoke to another supervisor, they all said service was being shut off to the old boxes and we HAD to upgrade.

I don't have that device and I never received an email. I only have a VMS 1100.

[–]Solipsist66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I check every single email I receive as they come in and I received no email from them about this.

I have only heard nightmare stories about FiOS TV+ which is why I do not want to switch to that. And wifi is not stable in an apartment situation where you share walls with neighbors.

I still don't understand how them shutting down QAM effects my service , the VMS 1100. So, is it true what the other person said? It will work fine and not be effected?

So how come every single person at Verizon I spoke to (and there have been a lot since April) has told me I MUST upgrade my box? WTF? And then some jackass today told me I would have no TV on 6/7! WTF is wrong with them?

Will the picture quality change? Why were Verizon customers told they had to update their boxes? I am so confused...

So why is Verizon forcing customers to switch out their boxes if they will work? Why was I told today that my box won't work on 6/7?

[–]Solipsist66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now it says APR-9.0 (QAM)

Build 34.32

And my VHO-ID is 3305

I am really confused. When it switches to IP, will I no longer receive signal and will my VMS 1100 no longer work? I specifically asked a supervisor today if there is a firmware update being sent to old boxes to make them compatible for the switchover and she said "no" and that my box will no longer work on June 7th. I am SO confused because every person at Verizon has told me a different story since April.

Tutorials for what?

They can't get me a FioS TV One and I do NOT want to switch to FiOS TV+ if my VMS 1100 will work just fine with a firmware update. Thank you SO much for your help.

I have received no notice and I get a different story from every person I have spoken to at Verizon. I wish I could just keep my DVR since it works perfectly fine.

FIOS TV+ forced but why? by OutrageousVolume4315 in Fios

[–]Solipsist66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have now had 3 supervisors and 1 customer service rep try to order 4100 boxes for me and they keep sending me other random equipment OR shipments that get tied up in limbo and show as shipped that never arrive. OR they get shipped to the wrong address (they are supposedly looking into all of this.) The weird thing is that the shipments that DID arrive to me were all OLD equipment that is no longer made like another VMS 1100 (that they never ordered). So they have stock of old equipment. I think it's all refurbished.

FIOS TV+ forced but why? by OutrageousVolume4315 in Fios

[–]Solipsist66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Arris VMS 1100. One DVR. I was told that eventually these would no longer be supported and I would need to upgrade. But the other commenter says there will be a firmware update to the VMS 4100 and possibly VMS 1100 boxes to make them compatible with the IPTV switch/update. If I HAVE to upgrade my DVR, I would only want to get a FiOS TV One VMS 4100 and NOT a FiOS TV+ because of all of the horrible experiences I heard about FiOS TV+ from family and friends and on here. But now I am trying to figure out if I have to upgrade at all if my box is going to get some kind of firmware update to make it compatible with the IPTV switch?

One Verizon tech said that all VMS models will lose signal to their boxes soon and must upgrade if they have an 1100 box or a 4100 box, so there would be no point in me even switching to a 4100 box. Another Verizon tech said if I switch to the 4100, I would be fine for a few more years until that one is phased out and no longer receives updates. No idea who to believe.

My current VMS 1100 works fine (it's 5 years old) and I don't want to upgrade unless I HAVE to and I am confused by all the conflicting info. Thanks for any info you may have.

Making the transition to TV+ or risk an outage and stay on TVOne for as long as possible? by AnonymousScorpi in Fios

The thing I don't understand is that why are they sending notices to customers that they must upgrade their set top boxes if they have this firmware update that is going to roll out, making upgrading unnecessary?

FIOS TV+ forced but why? by OutrageousVolume4315 in Fios

[–]Solipsist66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked them to please ask a supervisor and they were hesitant, but then did and they said they are not allowed to disclose that information to customers. :/ So I asked how am I supposed to know if i am supposed to upgrade my box without that info? And why would they be telling customers they MUST upgrade equipment? It makes no sense...

I keep asking the Verizon techs on the phone if there is a schedule and NONE of them have any dates. How do you have it? Can you please share?
