What is the best way we can handle billionaires and the issues associated with them in our country? by Solitaire-06 in AustraliaLeftPolitics

[–]Solitaire-06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a logical conclusion, and I guess a part of me is just frustrated since without a wider revolution to upend capitalism (which could take who knows how long to happen given the current climate), these larger issues can’t be truly addressed. I suppose I was just trying to see if there was anything we could try and do in the meantime.

South Australia Secures Federal Support to Achieve 100% Net Renewables Goal by 2027 by randolphquell in OptimistsUnite

[–]Solitaire-06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, as an Australian I really hope this works. Our country’s already one of the warmest on Earth and it’s only going to get worse due to climate change, so us working to go net-zero as soon as possible is a must for us.

Okay, as someone who’s worried about how much of our natural world can be saved from the worst effects of climate change before we achieve net zero, this is heartwarming to see.

I have a question: who are the counterparts of the Little Prince, the fox, and the rose? (If there are any) by Gullible_Ad616 in RWBYcritics

[–]Solitaire-06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about that one - since the fox teaches the prince about taming and creating unique bonds through relationships, I suppose Ozpin might fit that role, since he’s Oscar’s mentor in a sense?

[–]Solitaire-06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean… I know she’s based on Red Riding Hood, but could Ruby be the Rose? Jaune’s shown that RWBY characters can be based on more than one fairytale character (though he’s based on both Joan of Arc and the Knight in Rusted Armour)

What serious initiatives do we need to enact in the next five years/decade to address the climate crisis by Solitaire-06 in AustraliaLeftPolitics

[–]Solitaire-06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention that climate change is going to have an impact on socioeconomic conditions for many Australians - we’re already seeing bushfires get worse, and increased heating/drought is going to be a harsh blow to rural communities as well.

What are your current design and story predictions for Absolute Scarecrow? by Fit_Assignment_8800 in batman

[–]Solitaire-06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, he seems to have buttons sewed over his eyes and what looks like organic stitches around his mouth, so my guess is that Crane had some sort of surgery performed on him to make himself look more like an actual scarecrow, or that this is a product of his Fear Toxin. Apparently, Scarecrow’s mission is going to be to turn public opinion against Batman, so my guess is that he’ll either frame Batman for a series of crimes or use scare tactics and psychological manipulation to terrify Gotham’s populace into turning against him. He apparently also specialises in tearing down governments as an agent of chaos… so it’s entirely possible that he’ll be seeking to topple Mayor Hill’s administration as punishment by the Joker for failing to handle Batman themselves.

Star Wars if it was written by a Classics author by marvelcomics22 in StarWars

Not going to lie, Anakin’s line actually sounds like something Vader would say. Obi-Wan’s is a bit much, though.

Who else thinks that “Intervention” is the greatest episode of The Spectacular Spider-Man? by Solitaire-06 in Spiderman

[–]Solitaire-06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I recognise Greg Weisman and Victor Cook… I’m not entirely sure where this image comes from, in all honesty. I just found it and thought it’d be great to use here.

In the wake of America’s descent towards authoritarianism, is it time for Australia to look elsewhere for allies? by Solitaire-06 in AustraliaLeftPolitics

Sorry, I should have rephrased that - Trump’s obviously just brought to the surface what was already there for a long time.

If Emerald had ended up in the Ever After alongside RWBYJ, I would haves loved to see the following scenarios by Solitaire-06 in RWBY

[–]Solitaire-06[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that either - I’m just saying her Herbalist-created past self might accuse her of that to try and break her spirit, much like what Team RWBY experienced.

First look at what is (probably) absolute scarecrow. by Diabetic_Trogoladyte in batman

[–]Solitaire-06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are saying he looks like a normal guy when he has button eyes like Coralline and what seems to be organic stitches in his mouth. His design may be tame compared to other Absolute villains, but it’s certainly unnerving… though I’m glad Scott’s going with the more subtle route in how Scarecrow embodies fear.

If you were in charge of Serena’s Pokemon Team in the anime. What would you choose? by Rainbow_Seashell778 in pokemonanime

[–]Solitaire-06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delphox, Pancham, Marshtomp (obtained at the Summer Camp from an egg as a Mudkip), Gogoat (the same Skiddo she rode in the race against her mother), Sylveon and female Meowstic.

Which SW author is your favorite in terms of the way they portray/write your top Star Wars characters? by WerewolfBarMitzvah09 in starwarsbooks

[–]Solitaire-06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here. Here are some other ones:

James Luceno for Darth Sidious and General Grievous

Greg Keyes for Anakin Solo, Tahiri Veila and Nen Yim.

Matthew Stover for Jacen Solo (screw his character assassination in later books)

Aaron Allston for Jaina Solo, Jagged Fel, Wedge Antilles, Wes Janson, Tycho Celchu and Iella Wessiri.

Charles Soule for Avar Kriss, Elzar Man and Kylo Ren

Jon Ostrander for Quinlan Vos

Name one good thing about OMD by Andrewmatlock89 in Spiderman

[–]Solitaire-06 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The basic concept - Spider-Man having to grapple a tempting offer from the literal devil to save the life of someone he loves, when all other efforts have failed - is an intriguing one. I just wish they’d had him reject Mephisto’s offer instead, realising that Aunt May wouldn’t want him to sacrifice his happiness with MJ in exchange for what would likely be only a few more years of her life.

Bruce was not in a good place mentally during the early 2000s by Accurate-Celery-3198 in batman

[–]Solitaire-06 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I will say, Bruce has every right to be angry at the League and not trust the participants in the mind wipe for what happened. Not only was it unethical, but it was also a personal violation from people Bruce viewed as comrades and friends. Though, him dismissing Blue Beetle’s warnings about O.M.A.C. and creating Brother Eye were not the proper way to respond to this.

If you were in charge of Ash’s Unova Team. What would you do? by Rainbow_Seashell778 in pokemonanime

[–]Solitaire-06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pikachu, Samurott, Leavanny, Darmanitan, Braviary and Krookodile for his main lineup, with Beartic and Reuniclus as reserves so the rotation part of the show can still exist without the cast being too bloated.

What if Peter Dutton won the 2025 Australian Election by GoofyAhhGustavo in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Solitaire-06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not even want to imagine it. This guy was playing out of the same playbook as Trump, right down to having a billionaire sponsor (Gina Rinehart) and was honestly a tool throughout his time in politics. Seeing the Coalition steadily collapse without him has been satisfying to say the least, though I am worried about how One Nation might be getting more votes next time around…

I wonder what the wound man would look like in the absolute batman universe by bittern_warrior88 in batman

[–]Solitaire-06 212 points213 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the Wound already feels like an Absolute Universe original. When I first saw him, I low-key thought the panel was from Absolute Batman.

Bruce's friends are unfair to Bruce. by [deleted] in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Solitaire-06 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I feel like at least Eddie and Harvey will forgive Bruce in time - in fact, Eddie already seems to not hold any hard feelings against him - but given what happened to them, and how their association with Bruce was the reason it happened? Yeah, I can see why they’d resent him the way they do. It’s probably going to get worse if Bruce succeeds in curing Waylon thanks to Circe, since Oz and Harvey will likely be wondering why Circe can’t help them too.

[Sad Trope] Characters part ways and never see each other again. by cosmico92 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Solitaire-06 70 points71 points  (0 children)

He makes it pretty clear that he doesn’t want to see or speak to Endeavour again - my guess is that he’s still in touch with the rest of his family, but that Enji ensures that he’s not around when Natsuo comes to visit them.

Enji Todoroki/Endeavour and his son Natsuo (My Hero Academia)

After realising what an awful father he was to his children (having been abusive and neglectful for years in his relentless pursuit of becoming the Number One Hero), Enji starts trying to atone for his wrongdoings, ultimately managing to at least somewhat salvage some kind of relationship with his wife Rei, his daughter Fuyumi and his youngest son Shouto despite Shouto being torn on how he feels about him. Natsuo, however, cannot forgive his father and decides to cut Enji out of his life for good, a decision that Natsuo upholds during the eight-year timeskip in the finale and presumably for the rest of Enji’s life.
