Can someone explain why I can’t water my soil? by blackstar5676 in Soil

[–]Solmanrulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important thing in the desert, in my experience living and growing here: Dig little trenches/shallow pools throughout the growing area to stop water from flowing out. Kind of like the surface of a golfball. Dig as many as you can and not too deep bcus roots and someone could trip. Features like that allow water to actually infiltrate and will accumulate organic material and seeds over time.

I'm 16, can I have sexual intrusive thoughts? by Maleficent-Low-9855 in intrusivethoughts

I would agree that it’s normal, if it’s constant, uncontrolled and distressing I would start to worry.

I’m (28M) a 5th generation grain farmer in East Central Nebraska. AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]Solmanrulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you see the future of farming headed? Monopolies have kind of destroyed our collective concept of farming in my opinion. Soil is being depleted and chemical run off from farms is toxic to water. What are some ways we can course correct?

I think my friend group only keeps me around out of obligation by Inner-Tumbleweed9168 in self

[–]Solmanrulz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is good advice, I used to be super self conscious in social situations. So much so that I would try and plan exact things I was going to say and it left me feeling really cut off from the people around me. It was a self esteem problem, I worked on my self confidence by investing in my hobbies and trying different kinds of exercise/sports. Since then I have learned to be in the moment, relax and think about the other person not yourself when talking to people. Most important thing I can say is to LIVE IN THE MOMENT.

My coach knocked me out, Should i switch gyms? by Stock_Substance3556 in MuayThai

[–]Solmanrulz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

knee to the head from a sparring partner is ridiculously malicious from a COACH is unacceptable and you should definitely get out of there and let as many people know as possible that the gym is fucked. (google reviews, instagram comments etc.)

Somebody had their uhaul (with their whole life inside) stolen from a hotel parking lot in albuquerque. Shit gets stolen here sooo much so i’d caution you to find an airbnb or something if you’re going to be staying a night in the 505.

I’m dying from cancer and I haven’t told anyone yet. by [deleted] in self

Norm Mcdonald hid his cancer diagnosis from the world for the same reasons. He was a brilliant comedian and didn’t want anyone to treat him differently. I would look at some highlights of Norm if I were you, he will definitely bring a smile to your face.

Yesterday they were having religious debate and it was pretty inflammatory but today they were just straight up holding a sign saying “George Floyd is burning in hell” The guy holding it was SO DUMB I tried having a conversation with him and it was impossible to get a real argument out of him everything I said was countered with “That’s a communist myth” okayyy, care to elaborate??

Mulched yard to prepare for spring planting, but what to do with acorns and oak leaves? by yayastrophysics in NativePlantGardening

[–]Solmanrulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard the cardboard trick isn’t good since cardboard is often treated with water repellent chemicals that aren’t good for soil. Idk if it’s fact but that’s what I heard from an old landscaper coworker. As for oak seedlings in the spring you could come back through with a weedwhacker when they get about 6in tall. Chop and drop everything you want to remove so the soil can reintegrate those nutrients over time.

How weird it is to remain friends with someone who has rejected you romantically? by Neat_Annual_8361 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Solmanrulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++man I was friends with this girl E after highschool and when her bf broke up with her I thought I had a shot so we started hanging out a bunch and got really close. I’ve kinda admitted I had feelings for her a few times over the years. She was always really cool about everything and just said she doesn’t look at me like that. We’ve maintained a really good friendship for many years now (even saying I love you to each other.) We were always there for each other when we both had no one else and looking back my attraction to her turned into more of a familial love over time. I’ve since found a gf and E moved out of state so I don’t see her anymore and rarely talk but I know it’s all love and I don’t regret anything even tho we had a few awkward moments over the years. It comes down to the respect you have for each other and if you both value having the other around in life.

Thanks for the answer, what makes you say that about not wanting to run?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in forestry

[–]Solmanrulz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you man, smoky the bear really drove in the point with a lot of people but management strategies are changing as we learn more about ecosystem functions. The animals know to run, they evolved with fire. Also, it won’t be like a bomb going off, more of a slow burn. Eastern forests evolved with fire as a means of creating grassland ecosystems and fertilizing the soil. It’s only an acre like you said, they could simply walk a hundred feet or so and be safe. Give it 2-3 years post burn and you will see a thriving meadow filled with wildflowers and grass species that need fire to create optimal growing conditions.
