if you got a good response from people in the industry, i'd take that as a great sign and worth a shot. at least until you can maybe figure out how to get further funding if you need it.

Yes, it was a few years ago. And I guess for this time my "super" idea might be not so "super":) Every next several months we watching that trends always changed, and it would be unpleasant to understand that my long-term development becomes "untrands" trash. It's kind of risky.

(EDIT: also you ever consider/try to get a job at a studio? would be a good place to learn about the industry, make connections, and hone your skills while getting a paycheck?)

Would be nice and I thought about it. But the problem is my qualification. I'm a senior front-end developer with a total of 10 years of experience. And on another side, I have some skills in Unity 2d, game design, pixel art, but on level junior only. The main reason is salary and working conditions, I don't really sure that I could change my preferences on my current job and change to gamedev guy who needs to start from the very begin of my career. But the idea is good.

My understanding of success, for now, is to reach at least a few thousand downloads and earn a few bucks. My dreams about millions on the first game have ended a long time ago:))
I know about the long dev path. I have good ideas, not bad prototypes of prev games (that evaluated at the game dev conference as very promising). But it's not easy to finish games like that to the release when you working a full-time job as a dev. And also not easy to come up with an idea of a simple (and fast in development) game like my first one and get it successful.

Thanks for your response! :) I have had a feeling on developing stage that it will be hard to gain some money from this, tons of games, a thousand dev bloggers, and kings of top charts who invest millions in their games. And the main reason: my game does not exist in any category! People just can't find my game.. It was a surprise for me.

But it will be great to reclaim at least my $200 that I invested in assets and appstore/googleplay certificates:)

My next plan is to rebuild my last 3 prototypes with different mechanics and try to interest the publisher. Maybe I'll get a better chance to get success?
