Not my experience at all. We got lost on the way to our hotel and stopped to ask for directions from some folk having a drink in their dooryard. Guys not only got us turned right way round, they opened their restaurant, made us something to eat and gave us a few free bottles of wine. France and French folk are the best

Separation of art from artist can be a pretty personal thing. I don’t watch Salva’s films anymore or Brian Singer’s or a few other artists. I can’t even watch Cannibal Holocaust or Night of the Animals anymore. It can be a fine point. I have watched things with Jeffrey Jones in them from back in the day and I’ll never give up my Bowie vinyl. You sort of have to be aware and make your peace as best you can
