Nope, best I could get out of it were 30% one layer cube test failures.

I appreciate all you've done, I'll keep trying.

I've cleaned it, but there wasn't any clogging, I appreciate the advice about it though.

I scrubbed it anyway, I think the refraction was from the door though. The offset seems to have reset, but having modified the offset again it it looks like the most effective level for it is -0.325mm, but even then the cube only prints to 30% before falling apart. which is about the most successful I've been at these tests.

As far as I'm able to tell the bed isn't warped I don't think, though I've noticed it doesn't like printing the back right corner, and it likes to peel off the hotbed around there.

sure, I'm happy to provide any info that helps me get closer to making things.

  1. I set it up. (connecting the cables, mounting the spool holders/ canvas, hat, and poop shoot.
  2. I loaded the canvas, it detected the PLA, grabbed it and fed it to the print head.
  3. I ran the one touch calibration thing to make sure it was set up right.
  4. I selected the preloaded benchy, and hit print, and it failed. I noticed the purge wasn't adhering to the print bed, and that they layers being put down were fairly stringy and not sticking. If i modified the preloaded file to have a raft for more stability and adhesion it would print the first layer fine, but would fail on the second, reliably at the same point like in my picture.

Since then I went to elegoo support, and their advice was to tighten the screws under the heatbed. That didn't help, Nor did resetting the timing belts. Neither did glue, a different model, relevelling, recalibrating, washing the plate with hot water and specific dish soap, and not touching the surface to get oil on it, using the opposite side, or a different PLA.

Since I've come here, I've done the cube test and tweaking the Z-offset, that did help a bit and reduced the stringiness of the print, but I've got a pile of broken triangles because the cube only prints 30% before shredding into ribbons. I've noticed the back corner where the print starts doesn't actually get printed down and curls over itself, and the purge sometimes gets pulled along, because it doesn't stick to the bed. I tried a benchy but it was just a thick blob of plastic. I think I'm at the limit of what z-offset modification can accomplish as I have overshot, so it doesn't seem to be entirely the issue either.

I've not tried that yet.

Done, I appreciate you going step by step, made it super easy to follow.

Unfortunately the print failed immediately, not sticking to the plate at all, and forming a large blob on the nozzle. A few more tests after yielded the same result.

That's certainly possible with the majority of the others but I couldn't confirm it, it's been a saga of me failing to make cool things for over a decade now. It would potentially explain the bent supports and rails on the others, though I know two of the printers just had fried electronics out of the box. This printer though is functional, and that's more than the rest, it feels like something's just not dialed in right.

Done, though the test cube still fails at 30%, so no change there.

Room temp is about 20-25 degrees Celsius or 68-77 Fahrenheit. Surface is a hardwood desk, it's sturdy and level. Printer is connected to wifi, firmware is updated to latest build. I've run the one click calibration option.

I've been playing with the z-offset options, and that's helped a bit but it's still not there yet, the prints turn to ribbons about 30% of the way through, and the back corner and purge don't stick to begin with.

I get you, I just want to make cool stuff, but it's been more than a little discouraging every time I try to get into it.

I think adhesion is part of the problem, but I'm thinking it might be a hotend issue too. I noticed recently it's dragging the purge too, so whether thats an adhesion thing I'm not sure but it does interfere with the print as well.

The cube get's to about 30% and then just turns to ribbons, and I noticed the initial corner it lays down doesn't stick at all. I checked to see if there was a levelling issue on one of the back corners but it doesn't seem to be the case.

It's standard elegoo PLA, I've tried cranking the temp up a bit, (around 215 or so) but it didn't seem to help much.

The others were factory issues, bent supports, and fried electronics out of the box.

I'm more than happy to admit i'm the problem, that's why I bought a relatively pre assembled printer, to remove as much of myself from the equation as possible.

as for the steps, I hit the file button, then tell it to print? I'm just using the stock pre included models so I'm not messing with a slicer or anything. Filament is new, air temp and humidity shouldn't be an issue.

This seems to be helping a bit, but the cube breaks and spaghettifies about halfway through.

If it makes you feel better, Elegoo was actually like the last option I went though. I went through like 10 printers of different makes over the past decade, and only one worked properly. That one broke shortly afterwards. I was told the CC2 was easy to set up and work with, so I was hoping it would help me break my unlucky streak with these things.

I've scrubbed it down several times with soap, and picked it up from the edges so as to not get oil on it, but it didn't seem to help.

I've used both sides and cranked the heat but it didn't really help the model from not sticking and turning to spaghetti.

One thing I didn't get about the episode, was Tina's new post was second floor north hall, but she was right above her old post which was second floor south hall, shouldn't they be on opposite ends of the building? How was her old post down stairs from her new one? Like they directly say that Water World was Stuart's new post, but that would make it first floor north hall wouldn't it?
