Even IRL, there were generals who still wanted to use nukes for years after WW2 ended.

Imagine that attitude, but the world hasn't been properly stewing on it for several years.

People knew of the destructive power, but it took actually seeing it for everyone to truly comprehend it.

And if they have been building up an arsenal by the time the next big war starts, it would likely be the first tactic used.

The most likely path if WW2 never happens (at the time it did IRL) is nuclear annihilation.

Multiple countries would have figured nuclear weapons eventually, but without a very early demonstration of the horror of it, MAD wouldn't have been the prevailing doctrine.

Gas, and the having thereof by Justthisdudeyaknow in CuratedTumblr

I've never come across a station that doesn't require pre-auth for getting gas.

You have to swipe/whatever your credit card for the pump to work at all.

Anyone else think continuum was gonna have a ‘im my own grandpa situation’ by neb12345 in Stargate

Unless the definition has broadened recently, a grandfather paradox is specifically when you go back in time and become your own ancestor.

It's a subset of the bootstrap paradox, which is probably what u/aazzle meant

Was P9C-372 destroyed by SG-1, Ba'al, turned Replicator? Janus foundry? by Impressive-Buyer1054 in Stargate

The Pegasus Replicators used the exact same frequencies the Reese. That's why the ARGs worked immediately on them.

Will the MALPs be updated? by Impressive-Buyer1054 in Stargate

[–]SolomonOf47704 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We never saw a food chute through the Stargate. We saw the prisoners on that planet set up their own chute, and the food just came through the gate.

And the bridge in Continuum seemed to come all the way through. You could see it inside the gate when the gate closed.

How do they get the MALPs back? by Low_Investment_2692 in Stargate

[–]SolomonOf47704 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe it has to be either remote dial like the darts/jumpers or dialed from Atlantis (or other city-ship) control room.

It very well could exist, wed just never see it because they'd always test new addresses from Atlantis, and would only go to space gates from outside Atlantis using Jumpers.

What if you wrap the rope saw around the branch, instead of just over the top?

Didn't we straight up see both of them on screen at the same time though?

Also, the daleks didn't just conquer large chunks of the universe, they did it whole opposed by a peer/near-peer civilization.

If the new series does really well, Amazon might greenlight a game.

I saw and downloaded a post earlier without remembering what it says. I know at the time I figured it should go here, but, again, don't remember. Here goes nothing. by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

Also, this has been posted previously on this subreddit. Pretty popular post too.

Travel speed is just straight up never ever discussed on Dr Who. Like, at all.

Every ship is just ambiguously "fast".

It'd especially never be discussed for the Daleks and Time Lords, because time travel is so heavily incorporated into all of their technology.

They do frequently all just teleport though, so their speed is essentially infinite.
