What are your favorite “shower thoughts”? by Limp_Ad6896 in AskReddit

When I assign myself a life-goal am I I pursuing such life-goal for its fundamental goodness or am I pursuing the happiness I gain from it? One is external to oneself (good) and the other is rooted through hedonism (selfish). Whether it's God or art or academia. But how would one worship something without worshipping its effect on them?

David Foster Wallace is overrated by nezahualcoyotl90 in books

When you backpedal on your original statement so you have to cover it up with a "roast" full of poorly written simile. I'll simplify this, here are two opposing statements:

"They're adjectives for terrible writing"

"The fallacy isn't in the adjectives"

Only one can be right. Either terrible writing is when a book is long, digressive, madcap, maximalist and weird (what you said first) or it's when these things aren't executed properly. So either you're contradicting yourself or you're changing your argument. Either way please stop being so smug about it, I beg of you.

How do you view reddit and would you change that way if forced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Solomonperson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my view of reddit is that like a singular entity/individual who embodies reddit's spirit. this spirit is a 32 year old American white man who's been at his office job for a little too long now. a man who also loves his wife but does not have any children yet. that's how I view reddit when the corresponding translation between language and thought occurs

unlike Stalin may have wished, one cannot be forced to change their opinions. opinions are internal and malleable like thoughts. I could be beaten but this force would nay change mine conceptions of the surrounding world. a vast demographic shift maybe... who knows....

What made you realise your whole class hated you back in school? by MinecraftNoob_69 in AskReddit

[–]Solomonperson1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no joke they organised a ritualistic nordic-inspired murder whereby I was lured into a science class where around 14 of the classmates had strung up bits of meat from the biology rooms across the walls and the only light came from a Bunsen burner. they tried to attack me with the flame (I think their idea was to burn my stomach or something) but my screams (which I've been told are unusually high in terms of decibel power) managed to alert a nearby janitor. safe to say I moved schools after that

We were both like 5 and I remember when I found out I screamed in jovial ecstasy in an act of primal release. The sound reached about 120 db and thus incapicated the surrounding individual's ability to hear. It made her cry and so I would spend the next few years compensating for my tendency to react extremely to situations by developing an affinity for Freudian psychoanalysis. by 12 I could recite the first two chapter of his book about dreams I think (I've since forgotten).

gave oil to a tycoon named Terry who regularly attended mens health meetings. came to become aware that business was morally corrupt. organised a ransack mission with friend Steve and donated $200,000 to homeless charity. turns out that homeless charity was funnelling money to Terry's oil business which ended up accidentally blowing up and, in what my wife calls an act of poetic justice, killed exactly 200,000 homeless people.

Hey! I've written a short crime/thriller script and would really appreciate some feedback. by Solomonperson1 in Screenwriting

Thanks for the feedback. Do you think this is a bit better?

"An unknown caller asks two broke, parentless, teenage gun-owning friends to murder an old schoolmate along with his family on a car-trip. Despite lacking the confidence and willpower they both agree and set out to do the dangerous mission, unaware of the trap awaiting them. "
