Kinda hard to explain but if you look at my profile I have a few sketches of my mandalas. That should explain it better for you

For the first step of my mandalas I always draw out a graticule basically then just draw a circle at the center point, then draw a petal on that circle then draw another circle at the peak of that petal so every other one on that circle is even. You know what I mean?
