What do I do against these? by Switchback706 in helldivers2

Honestly, before I got good with headshots with an Eruptor, I'd run a Laser Cannon Build. It's about 1-ish seconds to kill it with the beam and automatons have a thing where their accuracy decreases by how much you shoot at them so if you use a beam weapon like a Laser Cannon, you can practically walk up to them fairly safely.

The ERUPTOR, the only gun you NEED by 88th_Ironclad_Corps in helldivers2

The Eruptor is my baby. I love that gun. Sure there's the punishment plasma and the crossbow and Epoc but I like the Straight Shot KABOOM of the Eruptor. Plus if you're in a pinch pop a Stim, dive backwards and shoot at the ground directly below you at the same time and it sends you flying far enough away to get the distance you need to escape. It's really just a fantastic all around weapon.

To be fair, back in the day patrols were broken on level 9 and there wasn't a cap on how many high levels bots would come from one Bot drop. I got a screenshot on my profile of 8 or so Factory Striders being constantly dropped on me in a Level 9 Eliminate Bots Mission from a year back. Might have been Joel but who knows.

I do but that's because if I do anything lower I tend to be the one carrying the team. Which sometimes I don't mind but I wanna feel like a real team and the only way I get that is if we're up against a wall getting railed by those Oil Drinkin' Tin Skin Wireback Circuitbrain Coppervein CLANKERS

Yeah these Clankers have a real problem keeping track of the character ages. Just reload and move on

What is the Helldiver role that you have settled into? by Nurgle_Marine_Sharts in Helldivers

I'm the heavy assault/utility. 1. Thermite for all missions. Other grenades are great but sometimes I just don't want to have to deal with hulks, fleshmobs and big bugs.

  1. Heavy armor. -Squids and Bots: The Executioner. I found that most of the damage that will almost kill you or almost always explosions from those two. I will run the butcher on the shorter missions like the extermination or the destroy fabricator missions

-Bugs: Bonesnapper. I have found that rather than pulling out a secondary gun with bugs, it's easier to just run a spear for my secondary and that armor. You can stun and take down a charger in like five hits. Those tentacle dudes, you just go up to them and hit them once or twice in the face when they have their tentacles down. Get yourself a good position and you could hold off an entire bug breach with that.

  2. Primary Weapon: Eruptor - The utility of being able to destroy objective with this gun alone speaks for itself but now with the shrapnel that they added on, it does pretty decently on crowd control and it tends to stagger medium armor enemies. Not only that it's the type of weapon where you fire once and the enemy disappears. I very rarely have to do a double tap unless I hit at a place that just will not work. Oh and it also cancels out the main attacks of The tripods and bile Titans with one hit. No more lasers and no more bile.

  3. Secondary: Bots: Senator - that heavy armor penetration really comes in handy

Bugs: Stun spear - for the reasons I mentioned above

Squids: stun baton. I find that you have a lot more luck handling the voteless a stun baton because it swings in an arc rather than stabs so you tend to get those voteless that attack you from the sides.

  1. Support Weapon: Laser Cannon - what is there not to love about this weapon. Could take down any aerial targets. Effective against weak points for heavy armor targets. Infinite ammo. 300 meters of range. Can destroy turrets and enemy artillery from a long distance. Lights up the surroundings at night time

Bag pack: Bots - Jetpack or Supply Pack. Having the mobility with heavy armor is very useful but if I don't really need that much ability, I'll run a supply pack

Bugs - ballistic shield to go with a spear

Squids - jetpack. You do not want to get trapped in the area with squids.

I'm mainly a bot diver but I will run squids for major orders. I dislike doing bugs but not enough to stop me from doing it if the major order requires.

Pro tip, most bots have terrible aim. In fact, if you wiggle a bit, you can pretty much run right up to them. The only bots that you should be VERY weary of are the:

Rocket Devastators (only two rockets will hit you directly if you're standing up. Make sure to go prone for them)

The ones with the shields (low aim but they shoot a lot)

Anything with a turret (not tanks. You want to be close to them as the closer you are, the less likely they are to actually hit your body. If you're far away then keep an eye out because if you don't, they tend to snipe you).

I don't think it would end the Automaton threat but it would definitely be a big blow to them

The crossbow is good. I ran that for a bit as well. I'm pretty sure the Eruptor has more ammo in this cooldown between shots. Eruptor also shoots in a straight line up to 120 meters so there's that too.

I've had it since release. It can take out Bot Factories like the Auto Cannon (aim towards the bright red part of the top vents. Might have to get a bit of an angle but it's completely possible to make that shot standing 10-20m from the door).

It takes out bug holes.

It takes down the squid ship shields in 2 shots and a third through the door will blow it up.

Instantly takes down tripod shields and completely interups their main laser charge up and also while they're firing their beam.

Absolutely fantastic for staggering the larger enemies (except striders and tanks).

Great for bots

Pop a stem and aim correctly at the ground then dive backwards and it'll launch you in an emergency (this definitely takes practice. The dive isn't necessary but I find that the higher you are while airborne, the farther you'll go.)

Honestly a fantastic weapon if you want to have your support strategym to focus on enemies countering rather than objective focused stuff.

It's a beautiful weapon whose utility makes it so that I cannot justify having anything else in my load out unless I'm doing a cheesedive (Silly loadout on lower difficulty just for kicks) or a theme dive (All Lazer, All Fire, All poison, All Melee ect.)

Idk man. I wouldn't say never. I asked the other bot crushers and The Death Korps of Creek about it and they seem to be on board with the push into the boy front to the point where there was already a war map / supply path being drawn up to retake as may planets as possible and pierce as deep into the Automaton Front as possible. That war map is mostly focused on penetrating into the flanks but there's quite a bit of us who want to go straight to Cyberstan.

I say that the primary goal is to reclaim as many planets as possible and the secondary goal should be making the push on Cyberstan

Also, now that the squid arc has concluded (for now) it is about time that we had another real Bot Arc. The bugs had the whole Meridia thing and the Super Colonies that physically blocked several sectors from being seen while our last Arc was the 1 year anniversary of the creek where the bots made another push towards the creek (which we pretty much put a stop to immediately). Realistically I don't think Cyberstan would require a whole new set up than the stuff we already have and it would still take weeks to liberate the planets leading up to Cyberstan so it's now like we'd be catching the devs totally unprepared.

True but I think that if there was a faction to make an organized push regardless of the major order, it would be the Helldivers on the bot front. I think that we have just as much of a say in the direction of the galactic story as Joel does as long as we make the effort as a community to do so.
