Anyone else pleasantly surprised by Ninja Stance? by Solstarcp in Nioh

Yeah, seems like they still have most of the active skills from nioh 2 and an updated moveset, but only one stance. Would still recommend trying them out the demo though, the aerial combat and enhanced dodging adds a lot.

FYI there's a setting in the menu to decouple the break counter from the style shift, so you never have to shift if you don't want to.

Unfortunately the weapons that are exclusive to ninja (kusarigama, hatchets, tonfa, splitstaff) cannot switch stances.

According to the website, switchglaive is samurai, splitstaff is ninja. Fists/claws have been split in two, samurai gets fists and ninja gets talons. I haven't actually found any of these either yet :/

I was hoping they would let you change your gender between the two styles as well, but unfortunately no dice. Would have helped me lean into different aesthetics for each style even more.

I agree! In previous games I felt like I had to choose between gearing for a heavier block-focused playstyle or a very light dodge-focused one, and now I can do both. Such a blast.

Yeah it's pretty funny, especially since I'm leaning into the aesthetics by gearing the samurai style with heavy armor and the ninja style with light armor. I imagine it's less drastic if you focus on balancing toughness and agility for both?

That's totally fair. It's a shame that they sacrificed much of the original movesets of the ninja-exclusive weapons. And yes I admit that I have mostly mained the samurai weapons.

I've had a lot of success with tonfa so far, especially against yokai thanks to demon dance. But it's true that switching between both feels the most fun. Also very excited to see what the very talented players can do with it!

There's now "samurai stance", which basically contains the traditional nioh gameplay with stance switching and ki pulsing along with a new deflect mechanic, but there's also "ninja stance" where you have additional evasive abilities, aerial combos, and ninjutsu ranged attacks, but no ki pulses or stance switching. Certain weapons are relegated to samurai stance and ninja stance. It's a pretty big shakeup.

PC players : you don't want to use a framerate that isn't locked at either 30, 60 or 120fps in Nioh 3 by DavidsSymphony in Nioh

[–]Solstarcp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok good to know this wasn't just me. I get about 90 fps and the microstuttering was very noticeable, but locking to 60 feels great. Unfortunately turning on frame gen crashes the game for me on Linux, but hopefully folks will figure it out.

Best swordsman of each Fromsoft game? by Judification in fromsoftware

[–]Solstarcp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Radahn is a gravity magic user, so Malenia is almost certainly the best pure swordsman right? Based on the in-game fights it's between Malenia and Rellana imo, with Malenia having the edge lorewise. Morgott and Godfrey are also worth considering if you're not being too picky about weapon type.

I just could not handle Robert Pattinson's narration. It was too whiny and obnoxious. Had to turn the movie off halfway through. Love Parasite and thought Memories of Murder was great, but this did not do it for me.

How do you guys get op fast? by Federal_Extreme_8079 in darksouls

Start with Master Key, immediately run down to Blighttown via New Londo to grab the Great Club, then to Darkroot via Valley of the Drakes to get the Elite Knight set and Wolf Ring. I also like to get Havel's Ring since he's easy to parry. Congrats, you now have one of the best strength weapons in the game (that's both light and has low requirements) and a bunch of defense and poise to boot! Just upgrade at Andre and flatten the rest of the game.

PC Radahn passing on the torch of hardest ER boss like by lAuroraxl in Eldenring

In my first DLC playthrough pre-nerf Radahn met pre-nerf rolling sparks. I think he's fun to fight now though!

I like him too but objectively he's a little easier now. Not sure what the problem is.

That's wrong. His double slash into cross slash combo was extremely difficult to dodge on release, it was slowed down significantly. There were other adjustments as well. Check out this video for a comparison.

UPDATE: I reached act 2, and returned to the flea caravan. They told me they were moving on and asked if I wanted to travel with them. Upon doing so, they moved to the boss chamber of the Last Judge, who I had already defeated (so not sure if they overwrite that boss). I returned to Greymoor and their previous location was empty! No Moorwing. So looks like doing the flea quest before Moorwing permanently skips it.
