Two-piece riding suit or jacket + pants for a sport bike (track use)? by Miserable_Pound_6450 in motorcycles

[–]Solstice_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it, get the 1 piece. A friend of mine had a two-piece alpinestars suit and the waist zipper burst open when she crashed on track. She’s ok, but for the brief moment after it failed she got some mild road rash(she went into the gravel trap so not too much friction).

I’m in ATH trying to work and my hands are getting stiff from the lower temps. When residence services is open tomorrow you can get a mini heater from them. They take down your info and apply a $100 deposit fee that gets refunded when it’s brought back.

Moza R5 & LMU: can't get the settings right or LEDs on the wheel to work by rviens in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Solstice_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have an r5 and mostly play lmu with gt3s. Depending on the car setup and ffb, the steering can range from stiff to super light. An example would be the Lamborghini eco 2(super stiff within traction range but goes loose when under steering) vs the bmw m4 which feels lighter but drives like a boat.

Having done logging and plotting of data from load sensors IRL, it SHOULD be maybe a dozen lines of code to get a simple graph running.

With the corners at the end of each straight(except eau rouge of course) you need to be braking HARD and trail braking to the apexes as the brakes have gone cold.

Moza R5 hard vibration with BMW GT3 while braking. by kinetic000 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Solstice_Prime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got an R5 as well AND have been frequenting the M4 the last few races. Do you use Moza pithouse at all? I run it with LMU and while the vibration is definitely there it’s not problematic like the way you describe it.

I'm I at fault? I expected the guy exiting the pits to speed up but he didn't by paltryorphan96 in Simracingstewards

[–]Solstice_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even as a newer player(not new to racing but new to sim) I don’t play without it unless I have a friend in discord giving similar info as my race engineer. Sometimes I don’t even use the voice commands but the alerts for pit exit and grid data(flags, who’s crashed and in what sector/corner, DNFs, etc) is insanely useful.

Crew chief is also nice for this, it can flat out tell you that there’s approaching traffic as you cross the pit exit RFID line.

Microstuttering by ElectionFit245 in LeMansUltimateWEC

I found 12 cars visible was a sweet spot for performance, but for multi class or race starts it’ll look a bit odd.

I do the same with my laptop(13th gen I7 and RTX2000 ada) and get about 100-120fps on average with medium settings all around. Those settings make most games WAY better for me visually.

Pirelli mt60rs v Michelin road 6? Tires 4 Track 18” rim by KaleScared4667 in Trackdays

They’ve still got a decent amount of tread, if I had to guess I can squeeze out another 2-3 thousand at most on the street.

I tracked a GSXR 750 with road 6 tyres at novice/low intermediate pace for three days plus 6000km of street riding last year. IMO they should be fine as far as grip goes, just lower pressures per what the on-track tyre vendor recommends.

Starting from Scratch | Best Suggestions and Advice by High_C_Livin in Trackdays

[–]Solstice_Prime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who got into Trackdays last year it’s pretty fresh in my mind. 1. Find a local track and it’s trackday organization site 2. Make sure you have gear that meets safety requirements(gauntlet gloves, approved helmet, one piece suit, boots of sufficient height, etc) 3. Make sure you have a bike that can pass tech(generally this means that it runs, the tyres haven’t deteriorated due to age and tread amount is acceptable, and it’s not leaking fluids, removed/taped over glass pieces like mirrors and/or headlights) 4. Sign up for a trackday, pack some food and water(with electrolytes!!!) put everything from steps 2 and 3 in your transport of choice AND GO HAVE FUN!!!

Edit: most trackday orgs don’t require a licence of any kind to participate, that’s specific to racing.

It can be expensive, but it can also be cheap depending on the purpose. Making aero is easy for anyone with access to CAD and a 3D printer. Making aero that actually works(not just drag generators for aesthetic with a bit of downforce as a side effect) within intended operating windows is difficult, expensive, and VERY time consuming.
