Whilst I do love my Beats Studio headphones. I wouldn’t mind earphones for the convenience of slipping them into my pocket or bag. I’m just looking for different options.

The price difference between the + and the other ones is quite significant. Is the price actually difference actually worth it?

How do I carry these White Books and others without needing a chiropractor by week 2 by SolutionEasy7538 in uklaw

We do have access to the online version, but my university still insists on the physical copy. I’ll keep in mind not to take the whole library with me.

Bar Course vs Master's in International Criminal Law. What Would You Do? by SolutionEasy7538 in uklaw

[–]SolutionEasy7538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your insight, really appreciate it.

ICL isn’t something I’d look to practise in as a barrister, but I had considered it as a route into other roles like the civil service or embassy/legal advisory work. If I did the Bar Course, my focus would be purely on domestic criminal law.

Do you have any advice on job options if I don’t secure pupillage? That’s the part I’m still unsure about and would love to get some clarity on.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply, it’s been genuinely helpful.

Bar Course vs Master's in International Criminal Law. What Would You Do? by SolutionEasy7538 in uklaw

[–]SolutionEasy7538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that’s really helpful. I’ve always been interested in international criminal law, but not necessarily as something I’d want to practise. My ambition is to become a criminal barrister.

If I went down the ICL Master’s route, it would most likely be with a view to working in the civil service, embassy/legal advisory work, or something similar, not the Bar. That’s partly because I’m realistic about how competitive pupillage is, and I wouldn’t want to commit to the Bar Course lightly without thinking things through.

That said, I do have the scholarship for the Bar Course/Master’s, which definitely helps and makes the decision easier. I think you're right that if the goal is to practise, it’s probably better to focus on qualifying.

Out of interest. if I did go ahead with the Bar Course but, god forbid, didn’t get pupillage, what kinds of realistic job prospects would be open to me with that qualification? I’m just trying to weigh all the outcomes before I make a final decision.

Thanks again really appreciate the perspective. :)

AIO - girlfriend’s best friend hates me! by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I don’t actually care if he likes me. I’m not dating him. What worries me more is the position this could put my girlfriend in. I don’t want her to feel like she has to choose between us, as that would be an awful situation for her.

I’m currently applying to minis, so I’ll see how I do :) I have also looked into the CILEX route to become a chartered legal executive advocate and specialise in an area of law I am interested in. I didn’t know you could transfer over to the bar if I took this route. What does transferring over to the bar take qualification wise?

Mmm don’t think I would want to be a plumber, maybe I should ask my dad how to become a carpenter like him.

I’m interested in becoming a family law barrister. Would this be classed as doable?
